One question for the mods

Is being called another name for a transgender person classified as a flame? And that name is not a short version of my nation’s name. Trans would be that. Plus, I asked the person (The Xeno) to not call me by the name.

Yes, I know I have post a thread like this on the mod forum but I’m tried of people calling me Tranny, which if you google or use yahoo search you will see the word She-male in one of the links.

Probably not a flame as such, (there's nothing wrong with being a transsexual) but if you've made it clear you don't like the term, it could be construed as flamebait.

I have made it clear with Xeno what I wanted to be called. Plus, Xeno did start out calling me Trans then he read my sig or call me Tranny and I told him that I did not like that name. So, to me that would be flame baiting, if you start calling me Trans then change it to Tranny and keep calling me that after I told him to call me Trans or JWolf.

Looks like you have a pretty strong case, then. Well, we'll see what the Mods say about it, though I can't see them saying much more than what I did, but maybe they'll do something. :)

Jesus Christ, not this again.

Suck it up. It wasn't used as an insult.

To me is when I ask somebody to call one thing (Trans) and not another thing (Tranny). Maybe it was the way I was raised or something, to be nice to everybody. Meaning if somebody wants to be called something, you call them by that.

I have come up the best thing for me, anybody that call me Tranny, be it for a joke or an insult, will get a warning by me (Yes, I know I’m not a mod but it will still be warning) not to call me by that name. If they do anything, I will have to do something that I hate doing and ignore the player. It is better then blowing up on a guy.

Or, you could ... I don't know ... give people the benefit of the doubt and use a bit of common sense in not being a jerk about the whole thing and automatically assuming everyone is out to insult you by using a logical shortening of your nation's name. This is something that happens all the time on these forums without most everyone else spazzing out over it, excuses of 'upbringing' etc aside.

Honestly now. I Googled 'Nathi' on an image search, and gay porn came up on the first page. Doesn't mean I'm going to get upset with someone calling me that. 'Trans' does not always mean 'transgendered'. You've chosen to take it that way - you're creating your own problem.

Transatlantic. Transitional. Transportation. Transference. Transitive. Translation. Transposeable. How many of these are offensive? How many start with 'Trans' and have nothing to do with 'Transgendered'? Get a grip.

Suit yourself, boyo - but I imagine you'll end up with fewer and fewer people willing to deal with you if you continue to be so uptight about something that's really not nearly as big a deal as you're making it out to be.

Maturity. Tolerance. Willingness to compromise. A little of those things can take you a long way when dealing with others.

To be fair to Trans, TX said openly that he does it knowing it upsets Trans. There is no benefit of the doubt to be given when someone admits to an insult.

@Dread Lady Nathicana: Maybe you did not read my post or maybe I did not write my post clear enough. It was Tranny that I don’t like. Trans is what works for me.

@Jocabia: Thanks for the help.

To be fair, he said he'd ignore anyone who shortened it, regardless of intent, and was more than a little pompous about how he stated it. To be fair, he's been a bit unreasonable about the whole thing before, which is what caught my attention to begin with. To be fair, if someone did admit to doing it to purposefully annoy, yes, it's not right. And to be fair, the initial post read a bit clumsily when I read through it so apologies for the conclusion that the shortening to 'Trans' was also offensive.

Statement on maturity and all stands however - if you don't pitch a flying fit every time someone takes a little jab, they'd probably stop doing it sooner. Once someone who enjoys frustrating folks knows your buttons, they'll keep pushing them. You can't control other people - you can control your reactions to them. (Which doesn't preclude reporting abuse or breaking of rules, obviously.)

I will take your apology. Really, I was not mad at you about your post. I was just making sure what I didn’t like and want I liked.

The only time I do go into a flying fit is after the person will keep calling me Tranny after I asked them not to call me by that name. I know most people on-line are not the nicest people but I would think they would have to be on Nationstates or they would have to fear the mods.

This will be my last post in this thread about this problem.
