How is it I'm the one that keeps getting nailed when a thread goes off topic? I'm responding to several people, who are posting more then me, but I get nailed for being off topic?

The OOC argument over the meaning of National Sovereignty has no place in a purely IC, roleplaying thread.

Right but why did I get dinged for it? I stayed IC whenever possible, people responded to my IC posts with OC posts.

Actually, I have given up repeatedly. I just want to know what in tarnation I'm doing wrong :) Clearly I'm the kid in the school yard the teacher notices. This isn't exactly the first time I violated an unwritten rule. I'll gladly segue any conversation to another thread, move to another forum, whatever, I just need to know what bloody playbook I'm playing by.

You're playing by (or should be) the One-Stop Rules Shop, stickied in this very forum.
Excerpt from the OSRS:
Thread Hijacking: Appropriating a thread for a discussion totally unrelated to the original purpose of said thread. Hijacking can take the form of a single post or a long discussion. Such posts may be split or deleted, and the poster warned.

So, when I made an IC response on an RP thread, and lots of people made OOC responses, why did I get dinged? Was I supposed to ignore them? What rule did I violate first, or most, or worst, such that I got dinged?
Am I some sort of kingpin, so it's more important when I go off topic? Did I violate some sort of Ringleader or conspiracy clause?
I don't understand the off topic patrol at alllllllll. I thought the creator of the thread had discretion about what was on topic and what wasn't. I took this post:
Excellencies,
We welcome the support of the Free Land of Discoraversalism and the Federation of Kelssek in this matter, and our Ministry of Justice freely offers its prior expert testimony, prior research, and discovery phase files in order to assist your own legal procedures as you interpret and implement this UN law.
As I recognition of common cause, and I endeavored to support the arguments of The Island of Ishtar, in charactar. We faced stiff opposition, but I was engergized by the Ishtarian efforts towards copyright reform.
I do believe that the moderators on the UN forum believe there is no national sovereignty argument against a UN copyright resolution, but I dislike being squelched before I can make it. For what purpose was I prevented from doing so?

Making those arguments in character was fine. Doing so out of character wasn't.
Please tell me you understand the difference between the two.

I now understand that it was saying things OOC that was bad.
I first made those arguments in character. Someone responded to me OOC. How was I the one crossing the line when I responded back?
