Why spam?

I would like an explanation is to why a discussion which stayed on topic is considered spam? Whilst threads which are not topic at all are allowed to get up to lots and lots of posts?

I don't see the spam.

So, that clouds thread has more spam than other threads in general?
I think not.

Because the entire thread went into a spam fest. You can tell that by the whole "nipples" stuff. Mods called it as spam and not deemed nessicary so it's gone. Simple as that.

What the fuck? Thats nothing compared to some other stuff.. Nothing at all. It doesn't even touch the surface.

Ah i see what you are getting at Peisandros.

To be perfectly honest there aint much better than a day sitting out side looking up at the clouds.

OMG that is like the most on topic topic i've seen in a week maybe 3 even...

But clouds come in all shapes and forms.

True, but that one has spam in the very first page...

Sigh.

I guess that it has kept on topic. Nvm.

Actually, I think that's a most excellent question - one that I only didn't ask yesterday because the answer seemed relatively obvious, it didn't seem quite vital enough to come here and start a thread about it, and arguing against it would have entailed pointing fingers and calling other threads "spam", too, and I'm not really the one to credibly pull that off. ;) But now that you've taken care of the first part...

I think it was just pushed into spam because it sounded irrelevant. I mean "Clouds" isn't exactly an earth-shattering topic, no matter that it actually was interesting and did stay on topic.

I guess it just happened to strike a mod's "spam" chord and got moved without a second thought while, paradoxically, the "Free Sex Day" thread was sitting right next to it and thriving. And I can't even remember the thousands of threads we've had about "What do you think about [insert anything but clouds]?", the vast majority of which are arguably even less relevant than one on clouds.

Maybe the next thread about weather phenomena should just make sure to wrap itself in a more fancy cloak to stay under the radar. :p

Well I was planning on doing a stars thread but the way that the clouds thread has been treated has given me second thoughts.
From what I can see there was just one piece of spam on the first page. It's not really that shocking when you consider that some threads have pages of spam and go by unnoticed. It's just quite annoying really and I would like an explanation from a Mod as to why specifically this thread and not others? Once I get that I'll be happy enough, :)

Still no explanation from a Mod.

Umm. The Most Glorious Hack you seem to be able to post in the 2 threads above and 1 below this thread, but can't post in this one?

I don't quite understand. Someone around here must have an explanation as to why the 'Clouds' thread was spam. If there is no explanation, then say so.

I hate to be so irritable, but the initial question wasn't a hard one.

Spam is more than just going off topic. Personally, I would have deleted it.

Why?

And thanks for replying even though you weren't involved.

Nationstates is a political simulation game. Talking about clouds isn't even tangentally related.

*looks at general*

Do I really have to list all the threads which have absolutely no affiliation with politics aswell?

Some might say that clouds are a very good metaphor for politics. Big, overarching and ultimately pretty much nothing but hot air. :p
