As I titled this thread, I was curious as to why the thread about Steyr selling their AUG rifles in the US was closed down? Please don't tell me that my comment towards the end was the cause?

Looks suspiciously like an advert. If you want to talk about something like that, you should probably make it sound less like you're being paid by the company.

Should I assume you didn't read through the thread? DM put up a link to what looks to be a press release by Steyr, tis true. But he and several others were trying to discuss the merits of the AUG.
I was planning to respond to Chellis's comment about the new Beretta carbine but it got closed before I could. As I said above. And I was wondering if my comment, in the thread, about other NSr's hijacking the thread to attack gun owners was the reason that it was closed.

No, I didn't read through the thread, sorry; the OP seemed to be reason enough for its closure. I've just had a look now and I'd be very surprised if your comment caused the thread to close, so I wouldn't worry about that.
I'm just trying to help here, I'm not a Mod and don't know why they chose to lock it; I'm just guessing that if you want an answer to your question, the commercial nature of the OP is probably where you want to look.

Locked because the initial poster has copy-pasted a press release and added to it two whole, entire actual words. Had it been a link, the post would have been exactly three lines long and contained an emoticon, a link and one sentence, and that wouldn't have been a proper sentence either.
Posts, particularly first posts, are required to have actual content, 'can't wait' is not content.
