I know I did not start the thread and if I recall, only the thread starter can ask to get a thread closed; however, I feel there is nothing more to be said in the thread even remotely productive and the original poster has fled in disgust.

The thread has been taken over by the usual crowd of people that sign up on the forums to solely defend anything and everything Israel does and has taken to declaring anyone who disagrees with Israel an anti-semite solely because of disagreeance with Israel where there has only a single antisemitic thing said in the thread that I have seen. The thread should thus be closed because it can only further devolve into a flamefest.
Let's not put on our innocent faces. I was about to report you for flaming, so I might as well link it here.

Just as bad as mine.
That is to say nothing of the two people with N names, IDF, Graham Morrow, and Green Israel in the thread.

This isn't a fight for Moderation. I'll let them sort it out.

As I said, the more pro-Israel knee-jerks who invade the thread, the closer the chance for it to devolve into a flamefest as they have no argument and continuously accuse anyone who opposes Israel of supporting terrorism, Jewish genocide, and antisemitism. There is nothing left to contribute and even if there was, there would not be with these people present. IDF and Graham Morrow have been continuously flaming people and Zvet here is barely avoiding it by insinuating I support genocide.

Thread locked, one 7-day forum ban issued, general advice given. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11398502&postcount=262)
There is certainly substance to the accusation that criticism of Israel in that thread was being met with accusations of anti-semitism. I view this as a largely unwarranted slur which has the effect of stifling debate, and indeed ended up with a total derailment. This behaviour is not welcome in the General Forum. It is a political debate forum. No-one should expect to be met with automatic accusations of xenophobia every time they question another nation's policies, especially when the xenophobia is supposed to be veiled and implied (ie not actually there).
Yes, legitimate questions may be asked about an individual's motivation, but an atmosphere of blanket automatic assumption pertaining to a whole topic, is hostile and not conductive to debate.

Actually, a very wise and measured response, IMHO. You are to be commended. :D
