The Sweet Abuse of Power

This is going to be great, since as small minded as I expect the person who reads this to be, as fast I expect this post to be deleted.

Even so, I have a few "issues" to clear out with the wonderful administrators and moderators of this game.

To get it all started : Exactly two days ago, two UN members nations (United Confederacy of Planet Earth and Vladlandia) proposed an UN resolution named the Social Integrity Law. The law was merely meant as a joke, a harmless one since it proposed teenage population depiction according to certain limits. The law did not contain any pornographic or sexual language, as it was crafted in an administrative manner. They might have abided a law suggested in the FAQ, by sending 7 telegrams to several UN delegates, but not more ! The FAQ clearly stated that this should be attentioned by a warning, and that several warnings might bring the nation an UN exclusion or a eventually a deletion.

What where the measures taken by the moderators ? Complete deletion of both nations, removal of the proposal with no warnings whatsoever, beside a two hours later received telegram explaining everything in a wonderful phrase "You guys are wayyy over the limit". Such intelligence and careful planning, such compassion and law respects.

Of course, you could have simply excluded us from the UN, warned us or democratically not vote for the proposal, but it would have been difficult for such puny intellects, wouldn't it ?

The ones that deleted this proposal and banned the nations, are clearly sympathetic to extravagant proposals such as this one :

" Ban all drugs
Proposed by: Charosmatic
Description: we should ban all drugs they are a vilolent and bad thing. they
make violence fights and all things that make the world bad. they turn the
nicest of people to real evil people "

The abuse of power shows me that the people in charge don't even have the slightest grasp of democractical mechanics. Beside lacking sense of humor, I'd ask you to at least post a detailed rules page. Not on the forums...generally the forums are overcrowded with people who completely lack any social abilities and who developed a war system to the only peaceful nation simulator around !

Why did I write this somewhat detailed description ? Simply because I demand a detailed answer on the mechanics of such rash and radical decisions. Most probably you will all choose to ignore this thread, and go on with you day. Even more, I might get an IP ban. This will only prove my point, so have your way with it if you think that banning someone on an internet game can satisfy your lust for appreciation, appreciation which you will never be able to obtain in real life.

P.S : Sorry guys, but none of you would ever have a chance in real politics, and this comes from a man actively involved in such actions. By the way..have you ever heard of going out , meeting girls...you know human interaction ?

If you've read it this far...I salute you ! You might be open minded and I might have been wrong. If the reasons for this decisions are strong enough, it will not change my opinion on the people here much , but it would definetly change my opinion on myself.

This is going to be great, since as small minded as I expect the person who reads this to be, as fast I expect this post to be deleted.Well, you're off to a smashing start, aren't you, sunshine?

Even so, I have a few "issues" to clear out with the wonderful administrators and moderators of this game.Snear quotes? So you don't really have issues? Great! This'll be quick.

The law was merely meant as a joke, a harmless one since it proposed teenage population depiction according to certain limits.Mmm... joke Proposals are against UN rules.

The FAQ clearly stated that this should be attentioned by a warning, and that several warnings might bring the nation an UN exclusion or a eventually a deletion. You need to read a little more closely. We clearly reserve the right for more drastic measures for excessive violations. And, guess what? State-mandated rape is an excessive violation. Shocking concept, I know.

Complete deletion of both nations, removal of the proposal with no warnings whatsoever, beside a two hours later received telegram explaining everything in a wonderful phrase "You guys are wayyy over the limit". Such intelligence and careful planning, such compassion and law respects.Sounds about right to me. Grossly offensive Proposals can result in deletion. Funny how that works.

Of course, you could have simply excluded us from the UN, warned usYup. And we could have hopped on one foot while singing "Chim Chim Cher-ee", but we didn't. Deletion falls well within the bounds of Moderation Descretion.

but it would have been difficult for such puny intellects, wouldn't it ?Mmm, yes. Pointless schoolyard insults really help your case, tiger.

The ones that deleted this proposal and banned the nations, are clearly sympathetic to extravagant proposals such as this one : Yes, because a stupid Proposal is much worse than one that involved state-mandated rape.

Let me say that again, in case any of the fans at home missed it: state-mandated rape.

The abuse of power shows me that the people in charge don't even have the slightest grasp of democractical mechanics.Well, if this was a democracy, that might be relevent.

Beside lacking sense of humorI'm sorry, I just don't find state-mandated rape to be exceptionally funny.

I'd ask you to at least post a detailed rules page. Not on the forums...There is a link from the submission page directly to the Proposal Rules, which is a locked thread, so there's none of that odious personal interaction stuff to worry about.

Simply because I demand a detailed answer on the mechanics of such rash and radical decisions. And lucky you, I decided to respond, even though I didn't get to nuke that Proposal.

Most probably you will all choose to ignore this thread, and go on with you day.To be fair, it doesn't really involve the other players. I can't blame them for not wanting to read this.

Even more, I might get an IP ban.Oh, you're hardly that signifigant.

This will only prove my point, so have your way with it if you think that banning someone on an internet game can satisfy your lust for appreciation, appreciation which you will never be able to obtain in real life.Yeah, yeah, yeah. Why does every rule-breaker seem to have such a martyr complex? Is there some secret rash of IP bans for complaint threads going on that I haven't been privy to? Your assumptions are... silly.

Sorry guys, but none of you would ever have a chance in real politicsSo I should stop my senatorial campaign? Damn.

and this comes from a man actively involved in such actions. You are? Wow! I'd think you'd have more important things to do than piss and moan on a forum. Shouldn't you be kissing babies or something?

By the way..have you ever heard of going out , meeting girls...you know human interaction ?I don't think my wife would approve of me "meeting girls".

If you've read it this far...I salute you !Back attcha, chief.

I might have been wrong.Too easy.

If the reasons for this decisions are strong enough, it will not change my opinion on the people here muchIf you hate this place so much... nah. Too easy.

but it would definetly change my opinion on myself.Um... cheers?

Wierldy enough, I never expected such an ironic reply and such a detailed one. What I had in mind was "You suck. You banned". Congratulations, Glorious Hack, you've made my calendar.

About the "state mandatory" rape : the law didn't intend to promote that, but re-reading it's premises, I kind of got the hang of what you are saying. Again, it was not supposed to be serious, nor it was supposed to promote rape (initially).

Ahh...the moderators have absolute power, and there is no case for democracy. I did expect that, especially since most forum admins have the impression they're God. At least you're a God with great sense of irony (never waste that potential).

I never said I hated this place. I only said I hated the general attitude of most people here. The idea behind this game is brilliant, being one of the first games of this type to promote it, although ressembling a virtual country-pet.
I didn't initially take the game seriously, since I was invited by a friend. However, the simplistic game mechanics and the overall pattern of evolution can be considered revolutionary for an online game.

Never claimed I was "that" involved into politics - If I'd ever be forced into kissing babies and taking pictures with old rags for votes, I'd probably kill myself in time, to spare everyone the pain.

About the reply : the fact that you've answered personally showed that I was a tad significant, if not, my post was.

The ex-nations have been eliminated from the regional report. This was the cause for the recent edit. I thought I had to request that to some of the admins.

Until you pay for the servers, they owe you nothing.

I'll try and somehow understand the point behind your post, Quaon. Oh wait, there isn't any ! You just thought that a little useless post stately claiming : 'I agree to whatever the administrators do and say' might get you a special bonus, didn't you ?

Getting back to the subject : I don't believe that the administrators owed me anything as administrators, but I do believe they owed me an explanation as reasonable human beings. I got the explanation, now I believe this thread has no actual purpouse so it can be closed.

I rest my case.

P.S : Now, I realise that adding "The Mighty" to my name as an angst ridden joke could somehow spoil my credibility.

I believe TMGH would have been nicer if you werent so condescending.

Or if you read the rules. :)

I read the rule, but apparently didn't have the capacity to fully interpret them. Doesn't really matter now, hope the moderation team closes this thread.

Grossly Offensive

If you want to execute left-handed men named "Earl" in your country, that's fine. Don't go yammering about it in a Proposal. Yes, this includes screwing with a 'majority' group. Killing all whites is just as bad as killing all jews. Or blacks. Or poor people. Things such as eliminating "all rights for $group", forced deportation of said group and the like fall under this too.

.....

Schedule of Offences

In general, you get two "freebies" before you're chucked

....

Exceptions to the Above

Exceptionally severe infractions will earn you an instant kick. Usually these are Proposals that fall under the 'Grossly Offensive' group.

(You can find these at http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=420465)

This particular post was spotted by a player and noted in the silly proposals thread

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11338026&postcount=2812

and the moderator response

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11340491&postcount=2823

This isn't uncommon practice, nor is it necessarily saying you're unwelcome here. It is saying "this is unacceptable and the penalty for it is the nation you've already created." If you were unwelcome, you'd be seeing IP bans and DoS orders nuking you immediately upon nation creation. People have lost nations they've invested years into because they went too far one time or another, but are still welcome in the community.

If you want to post silly proposals that we can joke about, we welcome jokes on the UN forums. If it's clear that the proposal is tongue-in-cheek, we have a good laugh and keep going, no warnings, no nothing - plus you'll witness people enjoying your proposal. All proposals submitted that are jokes, they get warnings or ejections and are treated as serious, even if the intention was otherwise.

Ahh...the moderators have absolute power, and there is no case for democracy. I did expect that, especially since most forum admins have the impression they're God.The weekly goat sacrifice has been changed from Saturday to Sunday on account of rain.

Beside asking (yet again) the moderators to close this thread , I'm happy that I at least found out who "rated" on us, and requested a ban, although the nations were newly founded. It shall be taken into account.

P.S : Spare me the "don't hold grudges" routine. Most moderation teams generally do it, so I don't see why this could be an exception.

Threatening people isn't a very good idea.

Nobody "ratted" you out. I saw your proposal on my daily sweep of the UN proposals and acted appropriately, according to our rules. I then visited the UN forum to read a few of my favorite threads, and added a relevant comment.

Ditto to Tactical Grace. If you're looking to *create* the potential for a grudge, you're certainly taking the right tack. Had you simply shut up about it after your third post in this thread, we'd have never given it another thought.
