Mods: I need you to delete my thread... *URGENT*
I need you to delete my thread where I ask for help on my sexual revictimnization research and then delete this thread of me asking you to delete my sexual revictimization research.
In the past, I have had professors that had the authority of the IRB to approve or reject research proposals. Since this prof told me to go collect data, I assumed he had that authority. Now, he is saying that I cannot do my research because he "forgot" about the IRB. He claimes he has never collected data for himself and didn't know about this issue. My question is: How in the world do you get awarded a Ph.D. and be allowed to teach a research methods class if you're not aware or never have used an IRB?
Anyhow, everything's gone to hell and I have four weeks to start all over, find data already collected, and hammer out a research report.
I need you to delete both that thread and this thread. I am destroying all data collected and, since I never read them or used them, it won't be a problem and I'm not in any violations of the IRB.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

Sorry, you will have to explain. What is this IRB? Why does the thread need to be deleted if the data was collected off-site?
The IRB is the Institutional Review Board. My prof overstepped his bounds and told me I could do this without going through the IRB. Then he realized he made a mistake and blamed it on never having to use te IRB. He is not a Sociologist, he is a Public Policy/Political Scientist.
I deleted my posts in the thread, so that should be enough. I just wanted to make sure that no one tried to contact me since I didn't need them anymore and was trying to cover all my bases. Even if the IRB hammered him for overstepping his boundaries, they're not going to pull him from teaching the class in the middle of the semester. I highly doubt they would do anything at this point, unless I used the data.
I wasn't sure if it was ethical to keep the thread up and the best way to make sure any ethical bounds were not crossed were to just delete the threads. It is unethical to ask for help on research if no one knows you are doing it. The profs (there are two) both knew! However, now he is claiming he should have never let it happen in the first place. I'm very angry with him right now because he could have gotten us both into a lot of trouble and he could have just denied knowledge if I wouldn't have given him the survey with my Research Proposal.
I will make a formal complaint after the class is over (for obvious reasons). Until then, like I said, I just wanted to cover all my bases in case he turned on me.

Aside from explaining yourself better, it's also usually a good idea to provide a link to the thread(s) in question. I've locked one thread, I'm not really sure if there's another one or not.

Okaaay. This isn't really my area. We do have some American education type people on the staff, so I will defer to their judgement.
EDIT: And there we are. :)
Sorry, I'm rushed and forgot to put the link. I have a reception for another professor I need to get ready for...
Here is the thread: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=489800
If you could just delete that one and this one, that would be awesome. If you just want to lock them and then let it go into forever... I suppose that's good. Like I said, I just wanted to cover all bases.
I used to mod a couple of forums (not as big as this one, maybe 200 members max) and I know what a pain people can be. Thanks for helping!

Yes, that's the one I locked. I'll let it go into oblivion in General. It happens quite quickly in that forum.
