Just wondering, why do only mods have avitars?

*takes a drag*

It has nothing to do with a Mod conspiracy to make us feel inferior and breed resentment and chaos on the forum. Nothing at all.

Because we're the only actual real people who play this game. The rest of you are merely figments of our imagination.

It's all about allowing Kat to hypnotise us with her cute animated cat ears avatar.

Because I like ruining the fun

Jolt only gives avatar access to mods and paying customers. The vast majority of us are neither. In fact, I'm not sure if I've seen an NS player yet that is paying (though I could be wrong)

Now would that be cats that herd (Kats that herd?) or one who herds cats?

Wow! With an imagination like that, you should either go into science fiction writing or consult a psychaitrist! :D

It's a little perk, like the infinite capacity telegram inbox, to make up for the rather sad fact that we're doing unpaid IT / office work from home for some novelist in Australia.

I read somewhere on the jolt faq ages ago (don't ask why) that the admin can provide a set of avitars or allow custom avitars for his/her forum.

Do you think you could take this into consideration, or is it a bandwidth issue?

No, it's fine as it is; as someone pointed out above it lets you easily see who the Mods are.

Obscene and offensive flags are enough of a task list time-sink without introducing the same problem to the forums.

One would assume so, but you'd have to check with Jolt. I merely repeat what I've heard, I have yet to see it proven.

But, the Jolt/NS arrangement might prove funky. Because regular Jolt users can't post on NS - so perhaps that would be the same for a paying account.

I don't think you can post on the NS forums with a Jolt-only account.. :(
