IP Check Please.

I'd like to find out(if it's not too much trouble?), if Emperor Pudu II, Admiral Thrawn II, and Thrashia are the same person. I was told there is some precedent for this, with people like Wolf America, and I thought I'd ask, to see if I can prove a point.

Just out of curiosity, can y'all IP check an entire region at once???

IP addresses, email addresses, and other personal information are considered private by site policy. If you suspect someone is a multi, provide evidence via a Getting Help request. If you just want to track down somebody's puppets ... sorry. We no do.

To answer part 2, no. We don't have an instant tool that can check a whole region at once. Given the nature of network addressing systems, it would not be particularly effective in any case.

Alright. I had been misinformed it would seem.

Ok. I was really just trying to track down puppets. I'll have to do it the old fashioned way then.

It has been pointed out to me that the rules in RP forums for this sort of thing are slightly different. Puppet checks are allowed if you suspect puppet activity in a thread which disallows their use. However, if you just suspect the existence of puppets, we won't check for you, nor will we ever consider sweeping a region for puppets except for modish reasons relating to rulebreaking.

If you want a puppet check for legitimate reasons, ask for that. As we've stated repeatedly, there is much more to our system than IP checks, which are frankly given more creedence than they are due. Don't bother to try to second-guess our methods - we keep them secret for good reasons.

I'm second guessing here, but I think he wants to make sure that the GE isn't cheating against the GFFA with pupet wank.

That's the a reason why I think MM would ask this question.

Again, second guessing.

1. Don't speculate here. Mini Miehm can explain his own reasonings.
the GE isn't cheating against the GFFA with pupet wank.
2. Assume for the moment that not everyone reads every thread in II. Anytime you post something related to ongoing roleplay in Moderation or Technical, spell out the acronyms and provide relevant links. The above statement is gibberish to us non-RP mods.

Huntaer is correct. I was reasonably certain that Thrashia was Thrawn II, and Palpatine II(my mistake earlier), due to posting style, and time of joining the Galactic Empire.

Recently on II the Galactic Empire(GE) began a war with the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances(GFFA). In that war Thrashia, Thrawn II and Palpatine II are all on the same side. As a provision for the beginning of the war, wankery on both sides was prohibited. Since that would give Thrashia THREE nations on one side of the battle, it's a bit unbalanced, to say the least.

The entire war has disallowed the use of multiple nations run by a single player on a single side of the war. Since Thrashia has violated it, I'm guessing that the rule would apply here. I'm trying to preserve what could be the first inter-alliance war on FT that ever actually WORKED. If you can check whether or not Emperor Palpatine II and Admiral Thrawn II are Thrashias puppets, I would be quite thankful.

The links are rather extraneous, but if you want them, I can get them for you in a few minutes.

Thats the problem.

EDIT:
If I remember correctly, its in the GFFA and GE Forums and you need to be registered and for the GFFA forums. You also need the passwords where the threads are.

Links to forums:

http://z14.invisionfree.com/Galactic_Federation/index.php?act=idx
http://s15.invisionfree.com/GE_Revitalised/index.php

You'd need to talk to MM/TSL, The Humankind Abh, or Neo Zeta about getting the passwords. I don't have permission.

NZ was the founder, Abh is the current Preator, and MM/TSL is one of the organizers of this war.

Okay, here's the deal: We don't police role-play.

If you don't want puppet-wanking, that's your own problem. We're not going to violate our actual rules on confidentiality for your artificial rules of disclosure. Our restrictions trump yours. Furthermore, events off site are utterly irrelevent. They are not acceptable as evidence and actions that take place there have no bearing on anything happening here.

Besides, use your admin access there to check IPs. Not our problem.

Frisbeeteria said just a few posts ago that you WOULD check if the RP specifically forbade puppet wanking. I'm becoming confused here...

I have admin on the GFFA forum, but only Thrashia is registered on the GFFA Boards, and he WAS caught trying to puppet his way onto them after a ban.

I understand that you don't like to govern roleplay, and we appreciate that, but it's not right that someone can make demands for an RP, and then allow his friends to violate the rules he set forth. I can have Sith come in here and post the agreement we made concerning this war, if that would be any help. I'm just having trouble reconciling the two contradictory statements, as well as antectdotal evidence from at least two other incidents.

I feel rather embarrassed about making this statement while logged in as my "good" puppet... Not like it's a secret anyway...

It's obvious there's quite a bit of confusion here, and part of it stems from differences of opinion in how we interpret the rules of the RP forums. Everything Hack said is correct. The lack of clarity was mine.

The Mods have a job to keep the forums and the game operating smoothly, while keeping rulebreaking under control. The only rules we're required to enforce are defined by Max in the FAQ.What can't I post?

Any content that is: * obscene
* illegal
* threatening
* malicious
* defamatory
* spamIf someone is using puppets to spam up your thread, we'll consider a puppet check to see if it's all one player. If someone is using a string of puppets to issue defamatory, malicious, or threatening posts, we're certainly justified in stepping in. On the other hand, if someone uses puppets to wank their way into a larger army or fake coalition, that's not our problem. If you want to set rules for your thread that go beyond site rules, we're under no obligation to enforce them for you. That's your job.

Moderation rules aren't set in stone to the point that we can't (at individual mod discretion) assist you with your RP thread. You can ask for assistance, but we don't have to agree that you need it, and we may simply ignore the thread on the chance that one of our number may have time and interest in helping. Like virtually everything we do, it comes down to a judgement call on the part of the mod. And that's the best definition we're going to be able to give you.

Thank you for clearing that up. Guess I really DO have to prove it the old fashioned way.
