Question about mild threats

I'm not asking you to do anything or complaining about a poster. In fact I won't even list the poster's name.

Is threatening real world legal action for what we say on the forum considered a threat? Yes, I know it's not a credible threat, but neither are other real world threats.

That's a blatant lie and slander that the mods continue to let you spout. But if it continues my lawyer will contact the admin.

Now, I'm not calling for action in any fashion, just curious as to what 'threats' are acceptable. If you're wondering, I'm not actually worried about this in the slightest and if you're busy feel free to skip the thread altogether. It's more just a clarification.

I'd think that unless you are maliciously saying something untrue about John Smith III rather than his handle (which is there to give anonymity, after all) of HamsterDance, there is not a leg to stand on.

I know there's not a leg to stand on. And the person in question is no longer here, ever, from my understanding. I just wanted to know if mods would rule against someone threatening someone with something like this.

Note: Hope that's clear, because I said - someone somone something someone something or something like that.

Personally, I'd laugh at them -- but if they were in the habit of quashing debate by pulling out the I'll Sue card, I'd imagine there would be warnings and, if continued, DEATings.

Fair enough. That answers my question. And it also mirrors my reaction.
