Posting around a ban?

I'm not sure but I thought Santa Barbra was given a forum ban. Yet, here he is, posting under a puppet nation (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11015560&postcount=374).

If I'm wrong and he wasnt banned, then thats that....but after Kieven Prussia was recently banned for posting around a ban, I feel the need to bring this to the "higher beings' (mods).

Yes. Have mods reached a decision regarding this?

Note the personal history of Santa Barbara:

The thread where he was banned for 5 days:

Here's a tip: NS mods usually need more than five minutes to make a decision. Give them time to look at the evidence.

EDIT: Santa Barbara was banned for five days on 5th May according to yoru link. This is now 23rd May. Unless he got another ban between 10th May and now, he didn't evade *that* ban from what I see.

I was banned specifically because my nation, Santa Barbara, ceased to exist (a few months ago, actually). I therefore see nothing wrong with posting with a nation of mine that does exist.

As I read it, that five day ban was made on May 5, 2006.... and it is May 23, 2006. Unless there is a more recent ban, I don't see how he could be evading ban.

However, Santa Barbara/Trostia has been around long enough to know that his poll regarding Ny Nordland is unacceptable as flame. Therefore, a five day ban will be imposed on Trostia, as the live account.

I strongly suggest people watch how they treat others on these forums. If you can't make a point without bringing someone's mother into it, this is NOT a forum on which you will be happy.

I thought he was banned from the "biased poll" thread. If not, then nevermind.

Well, yes, I got a ban for posting with an account based on a nation that ceased to exist. ;)

But again I figured that if that's the real reason, then posting with an account based on a nation that still exists would be OK. I hope I'm not wrong on that.

No, I didnt mean like he was evading May 5th ban. I put those bottom 2 links there for mods to consider his history when making a decision about the poll thread(the first link), if they havent already decided.

Edit: I couldnt post those 2 links in the mod thread about his poll because Frisbeeteria told not to post anymore....

I was the only mod posting in that thread, and I didn't rule. I just told them to knock it off until a forum mod had a chance to rule.

Santa Barbara shouldn't have been able to post after his nation died. Forum accounts are tied to nation accounts, and when the nation dies, so should the forum account. That has since been corrected on his nation.

If SB wants to rezz his nation and use that account again, that's fine with us. Chances are somebody will rule on that other thread and ban him again, so it's a double-edged sword.

Understood. So lets just wait for the ruling.

Trostia is not wrong. His nation CTE, and his forum account for some reason, did not. We corrected that recently.

As for the ruling: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11015680&postcount=5

1) Ok, 5 days for him making a whole thread about me. What about his insults? Just warning?

2) This is his 2nd ban within 3 weeks. He got 5 days in both of them. When bans are so close, shouldnt the 2nd ban be higher, as in because he continously breach rules?

3)I read the sticky posts in mod forum and general forum. I couldnt find the lengths of bans for a given offense. I know such a "rule book" would take long to make and mods have lives. But is 5 days ban a "light" punishment or "medium" or "harsh"? I'd appreciate an answer or a link to thread I missed. And what do you do for a permenant ban? Btw are the deleted posts simply deleted or archived somewhere? I know it's unlikely for them to be archived, but just asking...

Ny Nordland, you're not a mod. OK?

This is what Santa Barbara gets, this is what Santa Barbara gets. And that's FINAL.

Your "racist" threads is getting on my nerves too, but I rather not get into a flamewar with you. Anyway, I see you toned down a bit and that's fine with me.

5 days forum ban is quite harsh. The normal is appears to be 3. Really severe punishment for repeat offenders that are just a slight shimmy away from being deated is 7.
That is what I have seen here, anyway.

I've seen up to three weeks myself, generally shortly before deation (I think one or two of Commando's incarnations got 2-week bans for flaming and trolling, and Steel Butterfly for graphic sex scenes in RPs, among other things). But any forumban is kinda serious.

Purposefully spamming the forums is never acceptable, especially when it's because of forum difficulties. We're handing out 1 week bans to people posting nonsense topics with their content in the title.

You know it's spam, and you know you shouldn't be doing it. So stop it.

I mean, look at this. Even regular spammers get 1 week ban. His wasnt only spam but also flaming....

It's not up to you to decide the length of forum bans. It was discussed, settled on, and implemented. End of story and this thread.
