At what point does this become trolling. Ny Nordland enflamed the first thread to point of it being closed. He then started a new thread so he could address the points at the end of the last thread. He has repeatedly resorted to ad hominems rather than addressing specific points, mostly relying on calling people children, claiming they are unqualified to have an opinion or insulting their intelligence. I will post his last few replies in the thread.

I havent read it after you claimed "I'll explain the birth rate ". You arent qualified to explain anything unless you work in US Census or something. And we know you dont, because I remember you saying you were an engineer? Or do you suggest you know better than these people, who probably got higher education degrees in revelant areas of study and many years of working experience? You simply think you know better with a 30 minute calculation? :rolleyes:

You arent qualified enough because you arent a population expert. You arent qualified to dispute 2.1 per woman is the replacement fertility rate. You arent qualified enough to dispute the fact that if a population's fertility rate is below 2.1 for sometime, it'll start declining. You arent qualified to dispute projections. You may argue that trends might change but that wasnt what you were doing. And it's silly to say "projections wont happen because some of the previous projections were wrong". Why? First of all, the trends might have changed. Secondly, technology advances, science advances, we know more about population trends than we did 100 years ago. Duh! :rolleyes:

If one looks at the bulk of the threads NY has posted in, he has continually attacked the posters rather than the points and almost consistently dismisses all opposition as missing some magic component to discuss the topic (You're not white, you're not european, you're not a population expert, you're not norwegian). This is his behavior in this and multiple other threads. If more examples are necessary, I'm happy to give them.

Clearly, he has been verbally assaulted and verbally insulted, and I've defended him in other threads in moderation, but it's clear that has not come here to have cogent debate but to declare his points, declare victory and to dismiss everyone with ad hominems and/or insults.

Ny Nordland doesn't know when enough is enough.

Kinda mild, especially as most of it is telling people that they are not qualified to discuss something. I have said that on occasion myself, and it is a fair comment if it is the case. Some people are always going to be far more expert in some areas than others.

As for the other general rudeness, yeah, he should knock it off. I am not going to give him a forum ban, but he should be aware that his history to date indicates he will receive one fairly soon unless there is an improvement.

I don't have a problem with someone stating that someone is not qualified to assert something. I do have a problem with him dismissing everyone from the discussion that disagrees with him. It suggests that he is here to frustrate debate not engage in it. I agree with your decision, but again I'd like to note that I limited the quotes to a single thread. I can show in every thread I've ever seen him in that this is method of engagement.

It's a reply. I said that you didn't understand which I evidence in my reply. There is a difference. It's not an insult or even a personal suggestion, but simply an assessment of your reply.

It's a pretty normal reply.

Look, discuss this in the thread. He reached a decision and this has nothing to do with it. Scientists disagree all the time, so dispute the evidence as I have or drop it. The evidence is in the thread for you to analyze. Do so - there, in the thread. Not here.

You are NOT going to argue about the statistics in this thread. Take it back to General.
