It's already been proven pretty much I am in the military and that I am in Iraq.

Considering that I had a very close encounter with a mortar round this morning, I don't need this.

Please.

There is, though, nothing libellous about that comment under UK and European law. For it to be defamatory, it has to be detrimental to your reputation, and, well, you don't have the kind of reputation that this could injure further. Also, one cannot defame a "nickname" - i.e. we don't know who you are, "Whittier--," and thus you are not capable of being defamed.

well, I wish that were true.
But thanks to the work of a couple of people in general, I think people there have a pretty good idea who I am now.

I pretty much lost anonymity when someone one started linking to my blog and old campaign site.

I thought Robert Canales was discharged from the military for failing too many APFTs?

or failed to many APFTs.

When we were admittedly inappropriately discussing your discharge from the military you told us you were discharged from the Army, as is available on your website. I don't think it's unbelievable that someone might assume that if you failed to make it in the military according to your own admission that you would still not be in the military. I certainly didn't know you were claiming to be in the military (I say claiming, not because I assume you're lying, but because it can't really be proven) at all until the post at the end of the there TMGH just closed.

And you linked to your old campaign site in one of our discussions and I bookmarked it. You wanted us to know who you were.

I don't see how this is libel - then again, I haven't seen all of the context behind which that post was made. I can see how you wouldn't appreciate it.

You overestimate your celebrity.

I wasn't referring to you. That one guy in the Chavez thread, did some research and posted his findings.

Well, I got the link from you. So you seemed pretty willing to tell us who you are.

That aside, you have to admit that there is some room for confusion when your campaign site says you were discharged from the military 13 or more years ago and you said that was due to failing the physical muster, even if you are correct about your level of celebrity.

What is going on between you and Heik and Eut and whatnot is just silly. I understand why you guys would come here once to complain, but you've come back over and over with essentially the same complaints about each other and each time you get told there is no basis. It's been said several times that the ignore function is available. If you don't like him, use it.

Wouldn't it be more like 14 years ago? It was true 14 years ago. It was something I had to include on the site cause veterans groups do look into that and I was getting questions about it. So I put it in that bio. It was in response to a guy from a vet group calling me up and letting me know that some guy was going around saying I was in the military for 5 years. I didn't like that idea cause it wasn't true. Despite what I told the guy he persisted so I included in my bio. That way people can get it directly from me on the site. And it was for failing to pass physical muster. But after I went back in in 2001, I haven't had a problem with that since. Otherwise I wouldn't be working on my 5th year this time around. Second time's the charm.

You have a point about me, Eut and Heik. I've seen the posts by Eut and Heikoku against each other and Heikoku's post against me. This is the first time I've actually complained about Heikoku though. I use the long version because the short, for some reason, sounds like a personal insult, kind of like a swear word or something. Hope you don't mind.

There is no libel here, and we don't care about what people say they do in real life. The internet being what it is, no-one can prove anything, and we are not going to side with a particular version. Everything and everyone's reputation is what you make of it, and open to question.

Indeed. I myself am an 86-year old hermaphrodite with a hunchback.
