Moderating Under the Influence

So for the past few days I've been wondering about all the free time GMs suddenly have. ;)

I mean, after the new Influence feature has largely eliminated the need for Mod intervention in the whole invasion scene and removed the need for a nice chunk of the ruleset, what will you do with yourselves? Will GMC's arms grow soft from lack of a workout? Will Reppy's Oversized Knives of Deletion accrue a tad less blood than before? Will we not hear Kat's mighty roar so often? Will Fris stop tossing himself to and fro like mad and settle down a bit? ;)

I tease, clearly. But I do wonder what effect, if any, the new Influence feature will have on Moderation. Do y'all just have more time for other Mod tasks now?

Now they spend all their time answering questions about influence and explaining what they do with all their newfound time.

There is still the unruly beast named Getting Help Page that needs taming.

Trust me on this.

Short-term, of course that's what happens. :)

Note: I thought about doing a joke along those lines in the OP but figured it was too much. Most people can only take so much of my particular brand of humor.

I think we're spending more time explaining why formerly illegal "Action X" is now legal than we used to simply clicking the ginormous DEAT button.

And there's still multis. Lotsa multis. Always good for the bodycount.

But the good news is, I haven't sent you a GH request complaining about invaders in several weeks. That's oceans of time saved right there!

So long as there are rules to be broken, the Sword of DEAT shall maintain it's blood-stained shine! =p And issues submissions. One of these days I should really get back to that and stop letting Sirocco hog all the glory =p

I was going to suggest that if mods had a few minutes to spare you could always Roleplay ... but then I read a few Bastard Mod posts and realised you do. Those are IC posts, aren't they? Please?

Gonna have to work harder, I see.

Quite a few of our mods are roleplayers, yes, when they can get the time. I've got three or four posts I need to write currently, as a matter of fact ...

Cheerio,

Am I the only person who looked at the title of this thread and thought it was going to be about mods moderating while drunk?

Yes, it occurred to me. We do try to discourage that sort of thing.

I don't think we actually have a written-in-stone rule about moderating while intoxicated, but it's certainly an accepted part of moderating to not do it while under the effect of mind-altering substances. This includes alcohol, excessive sleep deprivation, cold medicine, and so on :D

Doesn't berserker-style bloodlust count as mind-altering, Reploid Seductions?

Please don't DEAT me

Okay, that's it. I've decided that all the mods don't exist. Because nobody likes Jedi Academy and nobody uses the word, lightsabering. This must all be a hoax.

Between TG changing the thread titles to make them so mild and Fris changing a poll to make fun of the OP, these mods are OUT OF CONTROL. They aren't supposed to be whimsical and amusing in the execution of their job. It's unprofessional. I think every time they make one of us laugh they should docked some of their retirement benefits from NS.
