Thread needing closing

May you moderators please delete the thread "Self-Abuse" in the general forums? I simply asked for peoples opinions on Self-Abuse, and now it's turned into a real *****-fest. I started the topic, so I have the right to ask the mods to delete it, right?

Actually, I believe that you only have that right in the International Incidents forum. And if a mod chooses to close it, please don't delete it. I want to read over it again.

I also feel that deleting the thread would be an unnecessary and unwise decision, considering that most of the opinions aren;t offensive or ignorant etc.

Typically, we prefer links for things like this. General cycles rather quickly, so it can be hard to find threads.

Quaon is (mostly) correct. Thread ownership is largely limited to the role-playing forums to prevent people from having threads locked simply because their views are getting thrashed in General.

Now then, for this thread, I'm a little curious about your motivations for starting it in the first place. The cynical side of me has some rather uncharitable ideas, especially since you want it deleted.

I'm not going to delete it. There's some good debate in there, and some potentially helpful links in the first couple pages. However, partially inspired by my cynical side, I am going to lock it.

Motivation? Puppet/Master talk with two computers. Had quite the laugh, I'd think. Well deserved, too.

The way you show no respect did it. I cut myself too, threw my head against a brick wall repeatedly, pulled my own hair, and so on. Want to have a go at me too now?

Do you want me to flame you? Is that what you want? You already know what I think, that you were an idiot to do those things. I have no sympathy for Westerners, or anyone actually, but especially those, who cut themselves because "life sucks so much." You watch a child with cancer struggle in vain through its disease, keeping a stiff upper lip all the way to the grave, and then try coming to me and telling me your life sucks and how you should be pitied or/and coddled for having been, or being, a self-cutting moron. You people need an attitude adjustment, and some serious tuning of your priorities.

Was that what you wanted? To hear what you already know I think? Next time, please ask for it in TG, as the moderation forum, no matter how much of a moddabe one is, is definitely not the right place for either that, or for you to indirectly extol in a baitish fashion for whom you have and have not lost your cheap "shreds" of "respect," IMNHO.

The pure arrogance of you thinking you know my reasons and thinking you know what I want, shows why you lost any respect.

I don't cut myself or do any of those other things cause I thoguht it was "cool" or to get attention, and the only reason I mentioned it now was because you were being an asshole about it. It is a coping mechanism, a way to deal with some stuff I find hard to deal with and I find painful. I'm sorry I'm not as strong as you think I should be, but this is me. And yes, I have help, yes, I am working on it, and yes, I have been through some pretty bad shit. Don't judge that which you know nothing about.

Strange, this thread was locked last night.

This isn't the place for this conversation, guys.
