Athought the OP claims it's not HW, it sure looks like it to me.

He's not asking for help. He's merely showing people his work and if anyone has an opinion on his topic, then they can state it. This is hardly the same as the previous 'homework' threads is it? He's not asking them to finish the work for him.

From the title, she seems to imply she's looking for help - 'Must finish essay...so I'm posting it on General'.

Edit: I just had a scroll down the first page of the thread and she says in post 10 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10654595&postcount=10)
I'm not asking for help. I consider myself fully capable of writing my own essay. All I'm doing is bestowing my prefunctory scrawl on all you lesser beings for your eddification.

Well, I don't so much mind that my thread was moved to spam, but I don't quite understand the reason that it was. i know that homework threads were dissalowed, but I wasn't asking for help, as was made clear, but rather procrastinating a tiny bit more, and trying to get something of a discussion on jane austen, writing, school, and/or some otehr related topic going. the title of the thread was meant to be ironic, not an desperate request for help. If I had wanted to get my essay done quickly, the last thing I'd have done was post it on general to expidite the process.

Does this precedent mean that any posting of school-related content is not allowed? if so, I find this ruling pretty overdone. if there's another reason I'd be glad to hear it.

Hi mods, just wanted to know if I could still get an answer to my query.

Ok, this is my last try (sorry to be a pain, but I actuallly want to know).

Could the mod that locked my thread please tell me why, and what exactly the precedent is vis a vis school-related material?

Your thread isn't locked.

You have time to make pedantic corrections, (yes, I made a mistake, it was not locked) but not to give a real answer to the question. Again, this is a trivial matter, and it would take three seconds to clarify your policy.

it would take three seconds to clarify your policy.
You're assuming that we have a policy statement with every possible contingency of every possible violation listed somewhere in a convenient, indexed, 4000-page law book. That's not how it works.

We have a broad set of guidelines, most of which are posted in the One Stop Rules Shop. Everything else is interpretation by whatever mod responded to the task. One of us stated that 'homework threads aren't allowed'. There is an assumption that posters will use common sense with regard to our interpretations. Try that.

In short, "does this precedent mean that any posting of school-related content is not allowed?" is a complete overreaction to the actual events, and you've spent far too much time rules-lawyering it already. We're not going to sit down and hash out a new policy over this. It's not worth the effort.
