Is it just some guy called Mo or is it meant to be the Prophet Mohammed?

Since I don't think mohammed was a prophet, i aint gonna call the mohammed dude associated with islam a prophet.

But I was talking about a guy called mo. He just looks a bit like the dude associated with islam. With a bomb in his head.

Hmmm... I wonder... will the islamists burn such a flag in protest? I mean, they burned Danish & Co. flags, but one with Mohammed on it?

This really belongs in another forum, but it's really up to the mods.
Me? No issue.

It is offensive to Muslims to have the image of Mohammed depicted on signs, flags, products, etc.

And if you intend to use the one with the bomb in his turban, that is outright flamebaiting, IMO.

Im not a Mod. Im just adding my two cents as usual.

Since pictures of Prophet Muhammad are offensive to a billion plus ppl ... almost if not more than the number of ppl offended by the nazi swatika .. I suggest you dont use it .... besides it wont make your flag look aesthetic, more likely make it look a bit lame :p

No, you may not, given that you know that it is offensive. The criteria for flags is pretty strict. You may, however, see links to and discussion of this selfsame cartoon elsewhere on the forum.

It is offensive to Christians to see pictures of Jesus in flags. And along the same lines as what Tropical Montana said, it is ouright flamebaiting to use a picture that mocks Jesus. So are flags with pictures of Jesus outlawed?

Al-Hind, the now-associated-with-nazis (didn't used to be but I understand why it is) swastika is offensive because of all the murders and tortures comitted by the nazis. Mohammed was supposedly a prophet (though I disgree but if I put the reasons this post will probably be deleted) who supposedly did nice things (yet never performed a single miracle, just said a load of wishy-washy stuff).

Anyway like I said, I'm talking about a guy called mo. With a bomb in his head. He just looks like the mohammed associated with islam. Could be his twin brother, but nobody ever said his twin brother was a prophet did they? :)

On a more serious note, was the mohammed pic shown in american newspapers and if not, why not, since you guys believe strongly in freedom of speech? And the same question about pictures that mock Jesus.

You're falling into quite a slippery slope with the "if this is banned, then why isn't this banned? It's equally offensive!" Not sure what sort of Christian you know, but seeing a picture of Jesus on a flag (in a non-offensive sort of way) isn't against the rules. It's outright flamebaiting when using a picture that mocks Jesus and is not allowed.

This is pretty darn clear-cut flamebaiting, whether it's Mohammed or just 'a guy called mo'. It's pretty much deeming Islam as the sort of religion that condones suicide bombers. So no, don't use that image.

We believe in freedom of speech, to profess your beliefs, but only to a certain extent. If you become malicious with it (which is pretty much what that picture would show, whether you believe it or not), that is where we draw the line. Comparing NationStates to American newspapers and democracy in general is well....a bad idea. This certainly isn't a democracy. This is Max Barry's site and Max's rules that we uphold.

It had nothing to do with islam. It was just a guy called mo. Dunno what his religion is. Somethin beginning with I maybe? :)

I wasn't comparing nationstates with anything. It was an unrelated question, just because I know in Britain, despite mocking Jesus, virtually all media outlets (including the let's-pretend-to-be-unbiased-but-no-actually-be BBC) didn't show the mohammed picture

Does that apply to my nation's flag?

You betcha. In fact, we're much stricter on nation flags than we are on forum posts, because they're not open for challenge and debate. If you want to make a political point, don't use your flag -- use the forum, where other people have a right of reply.

Question answered.

No.
