I think the post was meant to be a joke, although the fact I only think this because the post subject was this: ;) means it really wasn't obvious.

Out of context, it sounds horrible. However, in context, I think he was agreeing with you and being sarcastic. I think he actually was making fun of the same people you were.

Sarcasm is dangerous and it's easy to be misunderstood, which is why I actually write sarcasm if something I say could upset someone too easily. This one is a little obvious though. Santa Barbara isn't one to same something that blatantly ridiculous unless he's kidding. As you pointed out, it is a comedy thread.

I sincerely believe he's imitating the same kind of inane logic that leads one to the conclusions quoted in the article.

Santa Barbara is like that. He says really outrageous things sarcastically...but if you don't know him, it can come across as just insane.
