Uncertainty.

I could be way off base here, but the post linked below has a link (CLICK HERE) which (I believe) casts a "FOR" vote on the resolution at vote in the United Nations. The link does not indicate that it leads to that page however, and though the FOR vote can be easily undone I still wonder if it is appropriate to make a link in the forum that has a gameplay effect, especially when the link's context is misleading. Submitted for your consideration.

It does make you vote 'for' a resolution, just look at the name of the link.

It was a joke response to a pretty hostile post. As you say, you can tell by the link name, and when the window opens, it has "Your vote has been noted" in bold red. Is it really necessary to remove it?

There is nothing clear about the effect of that link. I think it clearly leads people to vote for a resolution they do not know they are voting for and I find this to be deceptive. Did I laugh when I read it? Yep. However, that doesn't make the effect acceptable. And the effect is that some people will vote for the resolution without realizing they did so.

I'm tempted to say "if they just click every link they see [especially one in a barbed response] and don't check, then they kind of have it coming to them", but I suppose that's no excuse.

Oh well. I still don't really think it's worthy of mod attention, but this may be my biases speaking as much as anything, so whatecer.

Dude, votes on UN resolutions are not permanent. You can change them, you can rescind them. Giving a hostile critic a link to vote for a resolution is just a joke, and its effects easily reversed. But if there still is bad blood about this non-issue, I will cheerfully withdraw the post.

Oh, and yes, if you're dumb enough not to check a link from a stranger on the Internet before clicking it, you deserve what's coming to you.

One, I like the resolution. Two, that argument hasn't worked in the past, I don't see how it would work now.

There is nothing clear about the effect of that link. When I mouse over, I see: http://www.nationstates.net/66769/page=un/vote=for

Funny, but "vote=for" strikes me as a hint.

Much ado about nothing, but it can stay removed.
