I would like an explanation, please.

As you mods have known, I have been forumbanned for the last few days. Although I have inquired as to why I have been banned through the Getting Help page, I have yet to receive a straight answer.

I have received 2 responses to my queries.

Actually, given your history of flaming, trolling, and flamebaiting, you're lucky you weren't deleted.

And

Your signature, and what it linked to, was the main problem which resulted in your forum ban.

Now, my Sig was linked to the Athar Forums (http://s13.invisionfree.com/Athar/index.php), my regional forums. Now, to my understanding, the same rules applied to sigs as do forum posts, as far as links go. As in nothing pornographic or malicious. Athar has neither. it is simply a regional forum.

As I have stated, I have yet to get an explenation as to why I cannot link to my regional forum.

I would like one. Please.

Correct. But your sig advertises it in a dishonest manner, as if it's something that would be illegal to link to. Misleading links are Bad. And when a moderator alters your sig, changing it back to mock the ruling is even more Bad.

If you want to advertise your regional forum honestly in your sig, go right ahead. If you want to keep up this 'Harem' nonsense, don't go right ahead.

Dishonest manner? Forgive me, but I'm not really following what you are saying. We call it the harem. Thats our name for it. It has been since we started linking a few months ago. Why was it ok then and not ok now?

Please, explain it to me. I really don't understand.

The terminal sentences imply it's something it isn't. And it was never ok.

If the ad said "The Harem- Athar's Forum" would that be acceptable?

Yes. As long as you don't imply the link goes somewhere with illegal content.

really now, I thought the mods exist to make sure everyone has a good time. Who is this hair splitting helping?

Ok, that question is answered. Although I disagree with it, I don't make interpret the rules.

Next question: Was the misinterpritation of this rule worth a ban? Was it that hard to fire off a TG to me, telling me why this is against the rules. And was it worth a DEAT, as the initial respondee evidently thought it deserved?

The mods exist to keep order by enforcing the rules laid down by the site owner. If that helps you have a good time, so much the better.

No, but altering your sig to restore the link and mock the ruling was. If you had questions over why the Harem sigs were illegal, you should have asked them then, not simply changed it back. And to you second question, one of Word Games' incarnations was deleted over the same kind of thing.

I did not know they were illegal. That's the point. I was not informed they were illegal. It does not say in the TOS that "False Advertising" is illegal. When all of us put links to our "illegal" site in our sigs, we did not know.

EDIT: And the "Mock" was sarcasm/satire. It's traditional to satirize people in power. Had he/she come to me, and ask me to take it off my sig, I would have been more than happy to accommodate him/her.

Doesn't the fact that the sig was altered indicate there's something wrong with the sig?

I have no idea who did that? I'm sure some other people have access to my profile. It could have been a multiple number of people.

Be that as it may, I went back and rechecked the TOS. It said nothing about "False Advertising".

It could have been the NS or Jolt moderation staff, and that's all. It doesn't matter who did it, the point is that all of the 'Harem' sigs were removed. Neo-K understood what that meant. Everyone else with a Harem sig understood what that meant. You were the only one who changed it right back without checking with anyone why it was changed to start with.

Be that as it may, I went back and rechecked the TOS. It said nothing about "False Advertising".

We don't allow linking to illegal content. It therefore follows you cannot imply illegal content in a sig link either. 'We'll do anything to anything' and 'the orgy never ends' [IIRC, two of the post-'The Harem' titles] imply they link to content which is [a] illegal and [b] not present on your board, so score one for implying an illegal link and two for dishonest advertising.

While I disagree with your interpretation of the rule, you are the mods. And you are in charge.

What if I just called it "The Harem"? Or linked my present sig to the regional forums?
