Please Put Back the Adds

I read Max Berry's message, and scrolled down to the bottom. By accident (yes, I'm that clusmy) I clicked on "You have bought one of the books." Could you please put back my adds, because I feel guilty for it, because I haven't bought any of the books.

Click "About" on the left of your nation page, then click the scary-looking skinhead stick figure. Voilâ, all the ads you can eat.

(Go buy the book while you're at it. Max has a kid now.)

Good for you. Hang onto that sense of conscience.

I see. I might buy it this weekend. By any chance is it sold in American bookstores?

Such honesty ... The ads should be back...

I bought Jennifer Government, but after clicking to remove the ads, I look at my page and I kind of like it the way it was.

I'll look into adding a switch to restore the ads.

(Talk about an unexpected feature request.)

Yup, totally unexpected really... Someone wanting the Ads back?

I WILL be buying Company at some point. I am assuming that it is out in UK bookstores now too?

Never underestimate the veteran players... :p

I can't speak on the behalf of anyone, certainly not of Sdaeriji, but I've gotten used to the ads over the time I've been playing NS. I accept it as a part of the Nation page... The page must look so empty without those ads. To me it's the new bit "[ A message from NationStates creator Max Barry ]" that's annoying but it's only a matter of time until I would be wishing it back if it were ever removed.

Well, I clicked.

And it does look bare! It just isn't the same without the banner ads!

I agree, I like it way better with the banners. So I'll second the motion for such a "put 'em back" button.

I picked up a copy of Syrup at our local DollarTree store (Richmond, VA) just before Christmas. Enjoyed it immensely. You might try checking the "bargain books" tables in your local bookstore, as it looks like it's been remaindered.

The local stores here never seemed to have Max's stuff in stock, but after haranguing the local Borders for a few months they finally got some in =p But jokes aside, you should be able to find Max's books, if not in bookstores, than most certainly online ^_~

... Truth be told, the nation page /does/ look pretty empty without the ads.

It does look empty. I'll be keeping them on mine.

Not in my Firefox. The book ads remain. But at least there is no pop-ups!

Question.

I much prefer my page without the ads (I appear to be in the minority).

I have quite a few nations, am I allowed to say I bought Max's books in all of them? Or only one? I do not know if he is doing this sort of as a survey to see who plays Jennifer Goverment and who reads it.

I started playing this game, then bought Jennifer Government about 6 months later, Syrup 3 months after that, and I will be buying Company as soon as it is in paperback.

It specifically says in the page where Max appeals for help that buying any one of his books is good for all your nations.

I bought Jennifer Goverment today, but I'm leaving the adds. I like them.
