As I logged on to my nation today, I noticed something a little strange. The list of words under my nation's name had grown larger somehow. I looked closer and noticed that there was a new link to my dossier. Of course, I leaped up into the air and celebrated, not only because it is extremely convienent, but I actually suggested it on the forum. I don't know whether you took the idea from that suggestion, but don't tell me otherwise, because I want to thank you for continually updating the site and adding great features that makes this game so much better than any other. Also thanks for keeping this game clean of riff raff. I hope someday more people will appreciate it.

I was in mucking with the code anyway, and it was an oft requested feature so I tossed it in.

Question... the listing of nations (using the List All Nations link), as far as I can tell, isn't alphabetical anymore, and instead is in the order of... arrival? It's a little hard to tell, especially looking at the list for The North Pacific. Is it supposed to be like that?

It's in the same order as the XML feed, which is in fact the order of arrival. Of course, and exit and reentry puts you back at the bottom of the list, so it's not a real good guide to nativity.

It's an inadvertant change from adding the search code. Salusa asked "well, is this a problem?" before wandering off for some well-deserved real life. Good question. Is it?

Nope, it's just peachy. :p

It's hard to tell at this stage whether it will be. There are a number of likely effects to the Gameplay community.

In Pacific regions, endorsement-swapping is now much easier, and a Delegate can spend 10-20 minutes a day getting optimal endorsement levels. A new swapper still has to run over the entire list. This benefits incumbent Delegates, who have previously had to make long, epic runs.

In the Rejected Realms and Lazarus, endorsement-swapping is now a fairly trivial task for anyone who's already run their initial campaign, and optimal endorsement levels can be achieved in a few minutes a day. This benefits everyone and no one; swappers in both these regions tend to run highly energetic campaigns anyway and it only makes it easier for both incumbents and challengers.

In every other region (excuse my tunnel vision!) it makes identifying invaders much easier. An incumbent need only scan the end of the listing, even if Regional Happenings is unreliable (which it often is for a variety of reasons) to identify the newcomers. This benefits incumbents everywhere, of any affiliation, and makes attacks that much harder.

I've found the new features, although some of them are perhaps not seeming like much, really help the gameplay.

I think we owe a thanks to our new admin.

Thank you very much as I found that today as well. I suppose thats why the site has been so weird lately? ;) Well it was worth it! (And on a side note: I am confused about the comment "be able to search nations" I thought that was already available before the dossier?)

No, it's not why the site has been so weird. That's coincidental. Something with Jolt.

You can now search on partial nation names. Try it. You'll see.

Is there any point keeping the View Dossier link on the main nation page, if there's now a sidebar link?

Also, I'd suggest updating the Tech Sticky at some point, to make note of the new search function - which is great, by the way, thanks.

That the Mods/admins do listen to the players. :D Thanks.

Unfortunately, we've misplaced the old title of Tech Modling, which might be more accurate, but yes, Haraki is correct.

Unfortunate indeed. The Tech Modling was always one of my favourite titles.

He's really more a Tech Modling than anything else, so I may dig that title up again and give it to him.
