Do we have a rule about poll spamming (same poster making poll after poll after poll after poll, with very little time between them, keeping them all floating on the front page)? Perhaps it's time to write one, because this is getting to be a bit vexatious. I mean, they're not even political polls, but are just spammish "what is the colour of your hair/eyes/pets/whatever?" type ones. Notice also the three polls on the same "where are you from" subject.

Fass, like I said before (and you acknowledged), perhaps you could simply ignore them. After all, they aren't inflammatory or trollish.

They are each on different topics and it seems that for the most part, people have replied quite politely, including you. There has been a strong clash of opinions, no doubt.

Though, you'd have to admit, the typical tirade of political polls are on the same tiresome topics that get worn out day after day and typically are posted all on the first page. These threads are often repetitions of another one.

Most spam isn't, and yet it's still spam. I could have ignored it, yes, but I didn't. I reported it. I could have ignored tonnes of stuff I've reported over the months - even death threats and the most awful imagery of dismembered corpses - all of it basically. So? Just because I could have ignored it somehow made it less of a potential rules violation?

I'm sorry, but I find this irrelevant as to whether this is spam or not, as well.

But the thing here is, it is by the same poster in a very short amount of time, on quite the spammy subjects.

"Here, we prefer for topics to have actual content."

Thank you, and kudos for that. You made me believe it. ;) :p

To my knowledge, I have never posted anything for the attention of the moderators before.

However, I have to confess this high increase in poll threads, most of them replicating the same questions in different forms, is getting really rather annoying. It detracts from the quality of the discussions in NSGeneral.

For instance this latest one: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=462082, is yet another "Where are you?" poll from the same user. S/He has posted at minimum four on the same subject during the last 24 hours. Unnecessary surely.

I am sure that the posters of these polls mean no harm, perhaps they're just on some sort of strange ego trip ("look at me, I've got lots of threads on p.1"). But, I would have thought that perhaps the moderators could just give some friendly advice to the posters of these repeatitive polls to "hold off".

I did. The link is posted two posts before your post. And I've done so again here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10195288&postcount=37).

Honestly...

I think a high number of polls is the least of NSers worries when attempting to discuss things in General. As someone asked before me: what quality?
