Recruitment
Hi I dont know if someone else has already asked this somewhere else on the forum, but I am going to ask it anyway.
I would just like to ask why it is illegal to send telegrams of recruitment to non-feeder regions?
Thanks for your time,

Because these people have already chosen, and like the spam to stop. This is not a spamming game, though many think different. It has to stop somewhere.
Surely the people could just delete the telegrams that they don't want? Before I was informed that the practice was illegal, I gained a couple of new states in my region through it. This must mean that people are not always certain in their choice of region.
At Nationstates you seem to promote active debate, I am not spamming, I am merely putting forth the proposition that a user might enjoy themselves more in my region. If we continue to precribe to this "first off the block" method of getting nations in regions, then how is that fair? It leaves no room for debate, which makes your current rules dishonest and destructive.
The only viable reason I can see for this is if there is a limit to the amount of telegrams one can have in one's inbox. Is this the case? Otherwise I would very much like the rules on this matter reviewed.

Yes, I believe.

just from personal experience, if your involved in an active region it can really be annoying having to wade through loads of 'spam' telegrams to actually find the important ones, ok i could sit there and delete them but why should i have to waste my time doing that because someone decided to send them?

just a guess but most rules are put in place because too many people abuse something. Personally i dont mind getting an occasional telegram from someone who genuinly thinks i might be interested in their region, what i dont want is 10 auto generated telegrams saying 'please join my region its cool'
i agree with you that its unfair, but if you think about it from the mods point of view, how would they be able to distinguish between 'spam invitations' and 'genuine invitations' every person would claim they'd researched the nation they sent it to and so should be able to telegram them.

You want to generate interest? Advertise in the Gameplay forum. That is one of the things it's for, isn't it? Regional play?
I can't tell you how many unwanted, irritating, longwinded tg's I've gotten over the years from people I don't know going on about how great their region is and how I ought to 'join today!' when I really couldn't care less, and would rather my tg box not get filled up with them so the ones I do want can't get through.
Think of it this way - how many of you want to see 'enlarge your penis now!' spam in your personal email all the time? We don't have a 'spam' filter on NS - though if there were an effective way to pull it off, which I doubt, it would certainly solve some things.
In any case there are methods available out there, including if I remember, advertising on a limited basis in the feeder regions (please correct me if I'm wrong on that). Make use of what you have. Think of it as a challenge. ;)
