Not that I really care but maybe someone should give the bacteria sex thread a quick locking. It is derailed and Fass is gonna get it pretty damn quick.

The thread: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=455183. Doesn't look much from here.

Hardly a flame, compared to how you responded to him as well. If it were a flame, you'd both be in trouble. Grow a thicker skin, New Fuglies.

My suggestion was to lock the thread before it got out of hand and if you can't see he started it then you are as blind as you are rude.

I am sure your grasp of ettiquite and tact can be a shining example to us all.

Yes, this is commonly known as 'sarcasm'. Your statement is also known as a common logical fallacy, and holds no weight. Persons of intelligence likely recognize this.

You are the one who began this minor debacle with an 'I am suggesting I am smart because my teacher is' tangent, and then got needlessly personal with the 'I hate gays' comment. Before that, it was light banter and discussing whether or not bacteria had cilla or flagella and such. Hardly, one would think, topics that might elicit personal attacks.

I cannot see how someone commenting that a teacher's level of education did not happen to reflect well on a pupil is a flame. It is an observation. Perhaps not the most effective way to respond, but hardly a flame, and not nearly at the level of offensiveness with which you chose to respond.

If you find yourself incapable of rebutting an argument with a cogent one of your own, it would behoove you to withdraw from the conversation entirely before needlessly embarrasing yourself. And if you aren't embarrassed by your performance thus far in this, I am certain there are plenty out there who will be embarrassed for you.

There is no call for someone possessed of such self-proclaimed high intellect to stoop to the level of accusing someone of being wrong based on their gender preference. Nor is there call to be insulting those who have a different view on the matter than you do. I would think an apology is in order.

Perhaps it is your own eyes that need examining. Among other things.

Well, thank you for your enlightening and so non-sanctimonious little speech. [/sarcasm]

In case you haven't gotten it by now, I didn't intend that friendly little banter to stop. Fass misinterpreted why I mentioned my former instructor and so did everyone else apparently. I'm not going to re-explain that.

His response to it was where it ended on his side I saw only after I continued with the remark about gay guys. I went through the bother of editing it didn't I?

I am glad you also agree what initiated the repsonse was somewhat uncalled for but I was aware for quite some time Fass is a med student. Nonetheless I still question certain terminology in one of his links because it goes against what I was instructed as to what constitutes a cell membranes and wall and who has what. A micriobiologist may agree with Fass but a zoologist or botanist would definitley not.

With that outta the way and to be frank, I find that fact you are preaching to me about intolerance to da gayz to be absurd beyond belief. I've seen Fass on here for quite a while and I know about his sexual orientation. I'm sure he's seen a few posts of mine here and at another site and I assumed he knew about mine as well.

It was a two-way lighthearted though pointed remark and it got ugly. Have you ever seen two gay guys argue about something? That's what I was referring to.

Someone I thought I was at least on neutral terms with appears to have developed a dislike of me. Moreover that was made pretty obvious. Maybe it was there already. I had no idea but I never talked to him before.

What I will say about Fass as an objective opinion he is quick to go on the offensive it seems when gays are getting bashed (ergo the mention of his previous banning). I can't blame him. I dont care for it either but having sense of humour about it helps. I don't care if you think it sucks but I gave up caring what people think if at all, long ago. After reading something he posted a while back, despite what happened here today Fass is someone I admire and respect quite a lot. You on the other hand...will need to earn that.

Now was that cogent enough for you? One more question. Why did you involve yourself in this? You seem incapable of putting as much effort into getting to the heart of the matter as you seem willing to dish it out. At this point the only thing I am embarassed about is responding to your drivel but there was something I had to clear up.

This is a public board. When you choose to post here, you also choose to open yourself up to other opinions. Simple as that. You asked, there's your answer. I'll note you still haven't addressed your out-of-line comments to Euroslavia. Given your high-minded talk, perhaps a bit of research on your end wouldn't be amiss either.

I don't care what preference either side in a discussion is. You were still needlessly rude, and continued to try and bait, then whined here when it didn't go your way. I believe things like insinuating someone will soon be banned (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9968192&postcount=83) because of your reporting here when the mods haven't indicated anything like, which is rather like using the mods as weapons or at least threats in your discussion, gloating over someone elses ban (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9968019&postcount=67), or at least rubbing it in their faces and making snide comments, all fall under Things We're Not Supposed to Do, and in fact have been punished by the mods in the past where such action was warranted. Do you really want to continue?

Ah yes - when I feel I need to earn anything from you, I'll let you know. Have a nice day.

Emphasis mine.

Before it got out of hand. The thread never got out of hand in the first place. The thread will not be locked.
