This Hogsweat hogwash got me seeing red...

And then it got me thinking. What if it wasn't just one bullshit deletion? What if it was a bullshit griefing policy?

So I got the idea popping into my head. Maybe the griefing policy itself needs to be fixed. I have an idea, but I expect the more veteran players and even the Mods (!) to tweak it a bit and see if it might work.

The basic idea I have in mind for a new griefing policy is as follows: Make it so that "griefing" is defined as "malicious invasion of a non-consenting region with the intention of taking it over." Consent, defined in this context, would have to be expressly granted by the Founder or Delegate, said Delegate having served longer than 10 days. This would prevent crasher Delegates from allowing the region to be taken over for invasion wars. Consent would be granted by the Founder or Delegate by posting in the Region Factbook something along the lines of, "This is an invader / defender / whatever forum."

This way, the invaders would have carte blanche to invade any defender region, eject the natives, password the place, and change the factbook entry to "[previous native delegate] is a [douche, snake, wuss, whatever.]" Innocent regions that do not participate in invasions or defense, etc., i.e. do not have "This is a defending / invading / whatever region" or something that reasonably interprets to that effect, would be immune from all invasions. The Mods could unleash their full wrath on invasions of those regions.

Also, if a region has had no Founder for, say, 60 days, and a Delegate has held the position of delegate for, say, 30 days, that Delegate should have Founder privileges or even be able to petition the Mods to make him / her / it a Founder.

Feel free to dissect my idea however you like, I want the Mods and veteran NS'ers to give their input and hopefully implement some version of it.

Well, that's enough for one post. All this outcry is making me totally pissed off. I need a reefer, dammit.

.We've answered the questions. We've addressed the concerns.

Please realize that there is nothing special about this situation. Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about this is that several of the mods like Hogsweat and didn't want to do this, but did so anyway because otherwise they'd be acting out of bias.

This case is closed, and I really don't want to hear any more of this. I've seen lots of sniping on all sides. If I see anymore, you can expect a forum ban and a warning.

I also might add, that we seriously considered this idea in the past. It would be far worse than the current situation. I hate to say "Please trust me", but I can't summarise the results of of a month of two of discussion in a single post.

Basically, it would be both unenforcible and easily abused by trouble makers.
