Would the mods please rid general of this thread? It's pointless and it'll make way for more such threads, and Fris... add it to your list of forbidden thread topics! :D

Euro locked it.

Does it matter if people reply with spam to a spam thread, or is that only frowned upon?

It's very much looked down upon, and I do keep notice at who replies to these threads.

i do not consider my thread to be spam, people were responding and offering their views and opinions... this is called a discussion and its what people do from time to time.
i also noticed that euroslavia said that responding to my thread was: "very much looked down upon" does that mean that a game intending to show world unity is oppressing the right of free speech?

I indeed concur. The very fact the one persons attitude, and indeed, perception of spam can vary enormously. For instance there was a thread about a technical question for a graphics card. Since this does not fall into the remit of 'NationStates' would that be considered spam or not? Aparently not, due to the fact that it is still an open thread.

Now someone, originally might I add, makes a querky thread about wining nationstates, is is spam-locked with in a day.

Explanation?

i do not consider my thread to be spamUnfortunately for you, Euro did. And I agree with his assessment.

people were responding and offering their views and opinionsInteresting definition you're using there. Randomness should not be confused with discussion.

does that mean that a game intending to show world unity is oppressing the right of free speech?NationStates was created to sell a book. It has nothing to do with "world unity". Furthermore, being a privately owned site, "free speech" doesn't exist.

I indeed concur. The very fact the one persons attitude, and indeed, perception of spam can vary enormously.Irrelevent.

Now someone, originally might I add, makes a querky thread about wining nationstates, is is spam-locked with in a day.Original?! Ha! That joke was old and tired when I first started playing. Hell, this nonsense is even addressed in the FAQ:

How do I win?

Ah, but what is "winning," grasshopper? There is no way to win as such. Which is better, a left-wing civil rights paradise with no money, or a right-wing economic powerhouse where the poor are left to fend for themselves? (That's a rhetorical question.)

One way to succeed, at least in a sense, is to make it onto the top rungs of a United Nations report. These are compiled once per day, one for each Region and one for the entire world. Nations are ranked on anything from economic strength to the most liberal public nudity laws (the UN has a lot of time to fill in). There's a certain glory in making it onto one of those.
