Troll Alert! (terrorism thread)

Beer and Guns has from the first post adopted a policy of rampant trolling, flaming, and spamming in thread entitled "Would this effect terrorism?". His bad behaviour is threatening to consume the entire debate.

Post 10 (flaimbait) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9680752&postcount=10)

Post 21 (troll + flaim + spam) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9680830&postcount=21)

Post 31 (flaim) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9680911&postcount=31)

Post 39 (flaim) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9680969&postcount=39)

Post 46 (troll + flaim + spam) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9681060&postcount=46)

Post 49 (flaim + spam) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9681066&postcount=49)

Please, make it stop.

NOT A MOD.

my two cents... he's sticking to the topic of the thread, presenting proof that no matter what the US does, it will be attacked.

His tone is rather harsh, but I've seen worse on the threads... so up to the mods.

I have read every post that you linked to, Khodros, and while I do not like the message I am seeing, Beer and Guns is, in my opinion, not flaming. He is presenting his point, and is giving the documentation for why s/he believes it.

Disagreement with a poster != the poster is trolling.

Does calling posters fools, idiots and loonies counts as flaming/flamebaiting?

It seems like if it's not over the line it must be very close to it. He should be able to make his point without namecalling, shouldn't he?

I don't entirely disagree with his message, just his delivery. At what point is namecalling too much?

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9680752&postcount=10 <-- does not call anyone anything, and responds in kind but milder to the poster quoted.

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9680830&postcount=21 <-- too mild to be actionable in my opinion.

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9680858&postcount=24 <-- calling the part of western civilization that cares about nothing but whether its music is cut off stupid.

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9680911&postcount=31 <-- does not flame anyone

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9680969&postcount=39 <-- does not flame anyone

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9681060&postcount=46 <-- does not flame anyone

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9681066&postcount=49 <-- does not flame anyone

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9681848&postcount=61 <-- it has been established before that calling someone a fool in isolation is not warnable. If it is a pattern, yes.

So what you really have is someone who keeps saying "WAKE UP" and possibly being annoying in that way, and who says two mild things that would make people tell us, "You've GOT to be kidding" if we censured them for it.

I did not find it easy to read his posts, but that does not, in themselves, make them trolling, spamming, or flaming.

That's absolutely fair. Thanks for looking at it again and doing that. I wasn't trying to be pain. It just seemed like a little much to me. Looking at it again, I see your point. Thanks again.

Kat, just to clear something up. A post becomes Flame or Flamebait if one person directly and personally insults another, with the intent of causing offence and where it strays from the topic at hand? I.E. Why "Your point is stupid [then going on to explain why]" is allowed?
