Please explain why this thread was locked. Was it just because Fass doesn´t care about America, or was there a good reason?

Giving the mods the benefit of the doubt, I'd guess it has something to do with a question of legality regarding the fomenting of an insurrection--but it seemed a bit quick on the draw for me, as it's possible that a discussion about the plusses and minuses of revolution could be beneficial, and there was never any opportunity for any sort of discussion to begin.

-->Not a mod.

I still think you deserve an explanation from the mod that locked it.

Come to think of it, I would really like an explanation from the mod who locked. Because otherwise I might believe that it was a mistake and start another similar thread, possibly earning myself dire consequences.

I feel I have no choice but to, in the name of healthy debate, rule of law, and regulatorial clarity, demand an immediate explanation.

P.S: Feel free to make an example of me.

Just so you can have your answer now.

No, I don't think so.

Well then...would you lock a similar thread? If yes, why?

btw, please be sure to always address me thus in the future. It makes me feel good. Would it bother you if I addressed your person as "pitiful dog"?

Reasonable topic for discussion made into potential flame war by the way it was worded.

Quite honestly had I been that moderator I would have deleated it.

I'll qualify it for you Quagmus.
You are perposely trying to bait a moderator who has now told you not to push it further with your insults.

It's about time you lot realised that the moderators are human beings and you should start treating them as such.

1. I have been very polite
2. I am politely asking for an explanation
3. I am rather more interested in getting explanations from mods, than non-mods
4. I do realise that the mods are human. So are the posters.

Now believe it or not, THAT is not polite.
It is goading and you are trying to dare the morderator to do 'something'.

1. You've been extremely rude to Hack, who wasn't even the moderator who closed the thread.

Remind me again on how exactly that is polite?

3. And you'll receive one when the moderator who locked it gets online. We have lives outside of NS.

All right, I have been very rude, and I strongly and sincerely apologize. I admit that I should not talk back, I also admit that in no way was said Hack rude to me. Nor did he, by addressing me as "honorable master" give me a reason to think that I should display said extreme rudeness.

Looking forward to that explanation

Yours Sincerely and Lovingly,

I think this is a perfect example of why we have to be careful with sarcasm. Reading this thread, it appears to me that Quagmus was being sarcastic when demanding an explanation in order to keep the thread a bit light. I think we as posters sometimes feel a need to do so in order to make the job of answering all of our silly questions a little less daunting and a little more entertaining.

However, Quagmus' statements did not come across well and Hack did not see the sarcasm. Hack then pointed out to Quagmus that his comments weren't appreciated. Quagmus still not seeing the error continued to be sarcastic in the same or similar manner, mistaking the nature and purpose of Hack's comments. And so on.

In defense of Quagmus, I don't believe that being rude to the mods was the intent and that he was actually trying to be amusing rather than insulting, thus the 'feel free to make an example out of me' comment. Quagmus, I think you would do well to take a lesson from this and be more careful with sarcasm in the future. You're not the first of us to throw out sarcasm and miss the mark and you won't be the last, but it is in everybody's interests to try to avoid speaking in a way that seems to inflame the situation as has happened here. Personally, I laughed when I read it, but we all saw the results. Some lessons are cheaper than others. Be glad this one was free.

I'm also interested in the why the thread was closed and look forward to the response from the mod responsible when they are available. Thanks for your time, guys.

'Unacceptable because of the trolling rule,' perhaps?
