Moratorium on Katrina threads.

I've noticed a trend lately where folks like to make threads with their opinions of how the Katrina victims are responding and just what sort of Katrina victims are responding.

I'd like to ask the mods to put a moratorium on threads bashing the Katrina victims for the time being. This is a tragedy still playing out.

It would be like threads created on 9/12 or 7/8 (in American dating system) saying that it was the people's fault for actually going to work on 9/11 or 7/7. (heaven forbid!)

I've been seeing a lot of "stupid morons for living below sea level" threads and I'd like them stopped. Home is home. Period. I'd also like the "blame Agent X" threads stopped. They're just painful.

As someone who grew up around and has friends and family in New Orleans and the Louisiana Islands, I think a lot of this mess is speculation from bored folks who have nothing better to do.

Would the mods please be so kind as to give us a couple of weeks to bury our dead and grieve our losses before we have to defend ourselves for living in a particular geographic location?

I'd really appreciate it.

I was thinking the same thing the other day, but more along the lines of there being so bloody many threads on the subject (oh, and, by the by, perhaps it's time to unsticky the Katrina sign-in thread?) already, but I didn't propose it, because I doubted that it could and would be done.

I didn't know you could regulate the forum that way. Doesn't that sort of interfere with the free and open discussion clause of the General forum? Just curious.

Its still playing out-as is the abortion issue, gay marriage, how terrible President Bush is, how ignorant Americans are, etc...

Will we have a moratorium on those subjects as well ? Certainly, none of those issues have or ever will be resolved and I'm irritated by them.

If you see any sort of flames or rulebreaking, report it to us; otherwise, we can't restrict peoples' opinions on the situation, as harsh as they may be. Everyone is still entitled to an opinion, though if it gets out of hand, we will take action, as always.

You've been told before that debate does not belong in Moderation. Continuing to do so, which you have been doing, as well as commenting on a lot of threads without actually contributing to it, can be considered spamming the Moderation forum. Please stop.
