I have to ask as well, as we both thought of this idea.

Tink stated her intention to start this thread several days ago, in this thread. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=441699)

If there was a problem with it, why wasn't it commented upon then? Why was it left until it had just begun (thus ruining her work in getting it started, especially since most people involved and interested in the thread do not view the spam forum?) Surely it was noticed before today, after all, it has been out there for almost a week.

Even if it wasn't, there was no explanation or clarification on why it is spam, or against the rules in any way.

At a guess, because most of the posts are a single sentence and some [like, say, 153] are just emoticons?

Couldn't the moderator in question have posted something telling people to cut down on spam? How is it different from so many other "contest" threads and the like which have been tolerated and sometimes even assisted by moderators?

I'd like to hear the opinions on other moderators on this...

Yes, the Moderator in question could have posted something of that sort, but as far as I understand it the Moderator in question felt that the reasons were self-evident.

Here is the opinion of another Moderator;

It's spam. Please don't do it again.

Oh, and your signature is too long.

But it isn't spam! no more than some of the other stuff that's been allowed in General! I've been around long enough to know what kinda stuff will get sent to Spam and with my record I'm not stupid enough to post something which is gonna get sent there, I don't see why this is considered spam over other threads

Post 153 can be repeated without touching the keyboard. That thread is spam.

1 post as far as i can see in the entire thread is a smiley, if it's that much of a problem i'll go back and delete it! i've seen plenty of posts in the past that are just smileys in other threads but it doesn't warrant the entire thread being moved to Spam!

As noted, most posts are a single sentence long. The thread has devolved into spam, that's why it's there. If the mod who moved it wishes to give further explaination they can unlock this thread and do so, though I doubt any further explaination is necessary. Feel free to continue the thread in Spam.
