Why???

Why is my request to move a thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=442365) back to NationStates locked immediately without even getting the opportunity to say something back? The thread in question is useless in Gameplay, nobody requested it to be moved to gameplay. I'd be more then willing to make some explanation in the first post that it is not about the webgame because I do not give a shit about the webgame aspect. I was going to explain to GMC, but then he had to lock the thread without giving me a chance to reply.

On top of that, my moderation thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=442374) is immediately locked, which is hardly done to all moderation threads with such requests.

And why are all references to the moved thread being in the wrong forum deleted? Is saying that you believe the thread is in the wrong forum a violation of rules? I cannot imagine it is - so why delete it? Surely there should be some sort of violation for a post to be deleted.

I'd like another mod to look at this objectively. I can only put this rather rude way of going about moderation (and I say this not to flame but as how I percieve this) down to GMCs negative personal opinions about me.

For what it's worth, GMC's decision on the subject is rather odd, considering there are a number of similar threads in II that were not moved.

Welcome in the club. :p I guess that GMC found the answer to your question sooooo obvious, that s/he didn't want to be bothered with it anymore.
Complaints about moderator rudeness are brushed off with; "They are only human." I don't think it's personal.

Likewise there are plenty of OOC threads in the NationStates forum. And the people in gameplay tend not to roleplay, and if they do they tend not to roleplay with me. The thread is therefore much better at home in NationStates as an OOC thread. I really don't care much about the opinions of tech whizz people of the merits of account sharing, nor am I particulary wanting to move to another region.

I dunno. If it is "sooooo obvious" I wouldn't have complained in the first place, I think. It just seems a bit excessive to do.

Anyway, this isn't really meant to be a thread to complain about NOES MOD BIAS (irregardless of my beliefs) but I'd just like my thread to be in the right forum and possibly not get my posts deleted left and right and my thread locked for what should be a normal, polite inquiry.

Well, GMC is not known to be the most tactful of Mods. However, I have found him to be a very effective one. I can only guess that he suspected that no matter how he answered the question he was going to get an argument and he chose to pre-empt it. Hardly polite, but that's our GMC. It is my understanding that once a Moderator has made a ruling there's no reason to continue posting. If you wish to appeal you may open a new thread (which you have done here).

I generally find when dealing with authority figures that the more you ask rather than demand or accuse the more likely you are to get a polite response. Just a thought.

Standard Disclaimer: I am not a Moderator. Nor is my house underneath twelve feet of water....What do you mean, I have to have a point?

Well, I've personally found that, in moderating on other sites just as incendiary as NS can be, politeness is a two-way street. If both poster and moderator want respect, they should both be giving it. Honestly, I've had to moderate people whose opinions and personalities I despise, and to whom I would love nothing more than to say "Begone before someone drops a house on you!" But I don't, not only because it would be grossly unprofessional of me, but because I'm likely to fuel the mutual animosity. Instead, I take the extra thirty seconds to compose a rational and reasonably respectful notice when I delete or move something. It's just a suggestion - I am not a mod for NS, after all.

This will be locked, pending moderator review. No, this is not an attempt at silencing a repeal, this is to keep the amount of speculation down to a minimum. Once a decision has been made, an answer will be posted here.

The description of the Gameplay forum states that it is for "Talk about nation management, regional politics, and why llamas are a cooler national animal than squirrels."

Since your thread seems to be about how you intend to manage your nation (ie, share it among several different people) and not directly about roleplay, it would seem to me that Gameplay is the appropriate destination for the thread.

There isn't much to "manage" about answering two issues a day though. I'm not moving regions either, nor so I vote in the United Nations with Knootoss. This is all about sharing RPing responsibilities, taking care of different threads, which is the point I've been making all along.

The target audience is, clearly, other roleplayers. I've been here for almost 2.5 years. I know what the forums mean and what they do. Putting it in NS was a concious decision, because nobody in Gameplay cares or even knows about roleplay stuff like that.

The thread in question dealt purely with the mechanics of multiple players controlling the nation. It belongs in Gameplay, and since it has had more other-player replies since it was moved than it had before, your claims of killing the thread are clearly untrue.

As another moderator has reviewed my decision and found it correct, case closed.
