Perhaps it's time for the mods to check out general and do another merge of the threads on "Katrina"?

There were way too many threads about Katrina. When that happens, merging/locking is usually the best solution.

Outta curiosity, how many threads is needed to be determined to have too many?

At one time, I've seen 3 evolution vs. Creationism threads on the first page alone, Another times, 4 Religious debates and anti Fred phelps threads...

It really depends. With this situation, there were 23. Seeing as there are only 25 spots (as default) on the first page, that was obviously way too many. There were similar threads here and there, as well as threads that didn't contribute much to a debate, so its all a case by case issue. We don't want these 23 threads covering the 1st page, so a merge was more than necessary.

3 Evolution vs. Creationism threads isn't too bad, since this is something that Generalites normally debate about, as well as religious debates. People will continue making new threads on them as long as the General forum exists, but Hurricane Katrina was a one time thing.
