Just wondering why my "Kissing Cousins" thread was closed...

I was just about to post and ask the same thing. There doesn't seem to be all that many rules violations in it, and the thread itself doesn't seem to be non grata, either. :\

I suspect it's simply under review for content...but I'm not quite sure what rule it was coming close to breaking...

I am not the moderator who closed the thread, but judging from these two posts...

i'd bang my cousin like an animal.

I'd bang your cousin too.

and from the entire point of the thread, that sort of discussion really doesn't belong here (with the way it turned out). There's nothing wrong with discussing incest itself, but the thread was taking a downturn to becoming sexual.

The sex wasn't the point...the idea of a relationship was...and the sex was pointed out to differentiate between a relationship resulting in children, and one that does not.

Suggestions for discussing this topic in a way that won't turn out into a sex-fest? I was going to go into a cultural comparison about taboos regarding cousins (in many countries there IS no taboo....)...?

Why not just remove those posts and do one of those "official mod posts" telling people to keep in line and stay out of the gutter? Most people were discussing civilly.

Just like my thread about the "looting" and "finding food" that was merged into a NOLA storm thread, despite my thread being about racism in the media and not about the storm itself. Sometimes, I do think mods are too hasty with certain decisions, and sometimes, dare I say it, pick the lazy option.

The thread is unlocked, but I will be keeping an eye on it, to make sure it doesn't take a dive towards things that shouldn't be discussed here.
