Just Out Of Curiousity....

When I think someone is flaming or flamebaiting...and I use the little red triangle icon to file a report...does that report also tell you which posting is being complained about?

Because I have used that little red triangle one time...and I never saw anywhere where it said what posting, specifically was being complained about.

so, I wonder...if a Mod could answer this...

when someone wants to complain about something...do they also need to include the URL and thread, and post number....or does all that info get automatically realyed to you?

I'm totally curious about how that little red triangle thing actually works.

I'm pretty sure it gives all the information, but I, like most of the other mods, have those warnings sent to automatically go into junk mail.

When those are clicked, they go to all the mods, NS and Jolt. It means that we get theirs, they get hours, and it's really kind of a mess, and not useful at all (at least not for us).

It's far better to post your complaint in this forum.

Thanks for that, Hack. I so wondered about that. I tried the triangle once before and when I didn't get a response posted here. I suspected it was something like that, but it's good to know why that doesn't work. Thanks again.

It's far better to post your complaint in this forum.I'm not a moderator, but I've seen the suggestion that if you're worried about causing "drama," perhaps filing a Getting Help request would be better for complaining about a user. I saw that suggestion made in the thread about flamebaiting the French here.

Also, if you've been forum banned, you have no choice but to file a Getting Help request if you want to do something like inquire why you've been banned or appeal the ban or what have you.

That was why I asked about the red triangle thing....because I never seemed to get a response when I used it, and so I wondered. Thanks, Hack, for clearing this up for me.

If you would rather keep your complaint confidential, I believe Cogitation suggested that the GHP would be better, which is correct, seeing as arguments tend to occur on Moderation before a moderator can truly assess the situation. Otherwise, the Moderation forum is best for it.

A forum complaint should go to "Moderation" by default, but may be filed as a GHR if you need to file a confidential complaint (for example, if you believe that a public complaint would exacerbate the situation).

A forum complaint must be filed as a GHR if you've been forumbanned.

I filed my complaints using the red triangle method for like three months...and they were never read?.... :headbang:
