What's the rule for posting abandonware sites?

Usually a copyright is being violated. Couldn't this site be in trouble for doing that?

I believe if it is true abandon ware they have not kept up the copyright and no longer are supporting the software (similar to Microsoft bob)

I was under the impression that it was illegal, but no one can really do anything about it.

I think it's illegal as well, and I think I saw somewhere that it was immediate deletion if you tried it. Though, I may have confused it with socalled 'warez'. Just my $0.02

Abandonware and warez don't differ at all in legality, they differ in morality. All copyrights on games last for 75 years AFAIR, so abandonware is just as illegal as warez but a lot of game companies tolerate abandonware as the games offered on those sort of sites are not sold anymore and not supported as the companies are no longer making money off them.

I've been a member of an abandonware site for over 2 years (I first found the link to this game on its forum) and sort of know what I'm talking about. Abandonware sites aren't strictly legal, but as long as they are only offering freeware, shareware and abandoned, non-protected games the companies leave them alone.
