OK, Im pretty sure my proposal was at least 10 times less retarted than all the other ones on the issue and whose got deleted?? Dont write it off just by reading the title, its as legit as a proposal for drug legalisation gets. The People's Court, you decide:

MINE:

"Legalize Marijuana"

RECOGNISING the UN's lack of a stance on issues concerning the legalization of drugs for medicinal purposes;

EMPHASISING that marijuana offers relief of symptoms for many terminal cancer patients WITHOUT the harmful effects of opioids or chemotherapy;

FURTHER EMPHASISING that the effects of marijuana have been proven to be far less harmful than those of alcohol or cigarettes (both currently legal) and that marijuana contains no unorganic chemicals like cigarettes, cigars, etc.;

NOTING that the importing of the Cannabis sativa plant will improve trade ties with Central Asia, its native and original growing grounds;

1.) RECOMMENDS the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes by perscription only;

2.) MAINTAINING that those who cannot produce a perscription for marijuana if found smoking it will face the current laws for illegal drug possesion.

OTHERS WHICH DIDNT GET DELETED:

"Legalise Weed"

Description: The people of the UN would be free to smoke Cannabis for theraputical reasons and recreational reasons as it is a human beings moral right to inhale any substance he/she likes.

All nations must allow their people this right.

"Legalize Magic Mushrooms"

Description: I reccomend that we legalize mushrooms in all states, this mere allows the people of each nation to use them in their own homes..... this therefore will not interupt the workings of businesses etc!

Allow people more freedom...they deserve it!

Am I crazy, or am I at least a tiny tiny bit less mentally handicapped than these people?

Are you sure it got deleted rather than just expiring?
What category/strength did you assign it?

Definately deleted, I got a telegram on it. It was in the right category (Drug Use, Legalise)...

lets also note that "Legalise Weed" was in
Category: Human Rights
Strength: Strong

??? Why say that when there is a specific category for drug legalisation...

NOTING that the importing of the Cannabis sativa plant will improve trade ties with Central Asia, its native and original growing grounds;
This could be considered a RL (real life) reference. Also, as Reformentia noted, are you sure it was submitted in the proper category and strength?
(never mind, I was typing while you were posting)

Yes, the telegram mentioned that and I looked over the rules (addmittedly something I should have done beforehand) but it was confusing - it's impossible to tell how sensitive that rule is - where does it end?

For instance, if we were to say Central Asia doesnt exist in NationStates (which I assume if what you were refering to, completely valid) than why not:

- It hasnt been proven in NS that marijuana is less harmful than cigarettes/alcohol,
- Cigarettes/alcohol arent currently legal or illegal in NS,
- NS has no current laws for illegal drug possesion,

etc. etc. etc.... I wouldnt even begin to know where to start editing it.

Perhaps quoting the telegram would be an idea...

Well I would have, but its really not helpful as far as determining which specific part of the proposal was the problem. Here is is anyhow:

"UN Proposal "Legalize Marijuana" deleted. It violates the "Real life reference" section of "Rules For UN Proposals" in the UN Forum. Read the rules before posting any more proposals, as two more violations will see you ejected from the UN. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=420465"

Looks like it was deleted for the reference to Central Asia. Asia doesn't exist in NationStates.

That sounds about right...I guess it would be easy enough to replace Central Asia with "nations/regions producing the Cannabis setiva plant" or something along those lines...

Thanks,
