hmmm... Does the lack of response indicate that it is now OK to link ebumsworld?

The mod crops are not as plentiful during the summer as they are during the other seasons. Patience (and an occasionl bump).

That essentially was a bump. I'm fairly sure the answer's no. ;)

You know, I got that. :fluffle:

Bumps are only needed once per 24-hour period in mod... I am sure they still see it, as it never even went below the half-way mark of the first page.

I didn't see it, but have now addressed it.

links to ebaumsworld
Tattle tale. :p

Um, just for future reference, where is it listed that Ebaum is verboten, and are the myriad of similar sites (ogrish, somethingawful, rotten.com ad infinitum) also banned?

TIA ;)

A quick search has turned up bits and pieces of ino on forbidden sites all over the boards. Perhaps if this rule is to be in place, there should be a sticky listing sites that are forbidden, then it could be added to as required.

IMHO, "Ebaumsworld and similar sites" is a bit too nebulous for people to follow...

Is the main rules sticky not central enough for you? http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=416023
Forbidden links: There is not, and will not ever, be a definitive list of forbidden links. Since we don't control the content of other websites, a link which was fine yesterday may be forbidden today. Each link is judged on a case by case basis, and occasionally the Mods will outlaw certain sites. Any outlawed site is forbidden in the forums, as a signature, as a motto, as a World Factbook entry, or in any other format.
General classes of forbidden links include porn or other sexual imagery, warez (see below), sites promoting other illegal activities, referral links (see below), or sites that have links to such sites as a principal component.
Some generally unacceptable popular sites include ebaumsworld, albinoblacksheep, and plasticnipple.
I didn't bother with other sites like rotten.com, as even the most casual of viewing would make it obvious that they post tons of porn there. In movie metaphor, this site aims for PG-13, and most of the sites you listed are probably R-rated or worse. Use THAT for your standard if you need more direction.

I asked almost the same question about a month ago, and this was the answer:

We're not going to post a list, because invariably, someone will then post from someplace containing inappropriate material and then say it cannot be moderated because it wasn't on "The List".

I agree that the current mod position could be clearer, although ebaumsworld is mentioned by name.

Some generally unacceptable popular sites include ebaumsworld, albinoblacksheep, and plasticnipple.

Perhapse the generally unacceptable sites list could be extended?

Putting together such a list would be impossible, seeing as there are millions and millions of sites that could potentially be put on it. All it really comes down to is common sense. If there is any reason that you think you shouldn't post something, then don't do it. It's as simple as that.

Apparently not - I didn't even notice that amongst all the other rules. I've seen legal contracts less verbose than that rules sticky. Thanks for pointing it out though.

Yep. You can thank the rules-lawyering players for that (including me, 'cause I asked some of those annoying questions pre-mod too). That's the summarized version of about 3 years worth of mod rulings and precedents. Ultimately, it's all about 6 little words: obscene, illegal, threatening, malicious, defamatory, and spam.

You want the simple version? It's right here (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=faq#etiquette).
