...gets locked with no comment whilst the chat/spam thread which has no real content is allowed to go on?

Anyone up for explaining the logic behind this?

Read the rules thread? No making complaint threads about threads in moderation. :p

Okay, fair enough, that explains why the complaint thread was locked. What remains a mystery to me then is why the 'I wanna be a moddie!' thread is allowed to continue - obviously the moderator's are aware of it - so, why is its rightful place in the Moderation forum?

The thread in question is purely a joke thread. We have had joke threads, before, such as Hack's organizational chart, Myrth's "Mod Superheroes" pic, the Moderator portraits with the Mods drawn as South Park characters, and Reploid Productions "NationStates Bastard Moderator from Hell". (Someone would have to dig up links.) Joke threads are permitted from time-to-time and we're letting this joke slide for now.

Serious discussions of who is going to be a Moderator are the business only of Max Barry and his authorized representatives. Not even Mod candidates are privvy to discussions about themselves until and unless we Mods decide to extend an invitation of Moderator status.

All right, enough. Moderation really ISN'T a place for chat threads to come up regularly.

I would imagine the first complaint thread was locked because 1) It is against the rules to complain about mod threads, 2) it was very obvious that the moderators ARE aware of said thread since four or five of us posted to it, 3) the charge that some NSers have more rights than others is laughable, as anyone has been free to post to that thread, and demanding that ONE thread in Moderation be closed because one has decided to put themselves into a category of "not popular" is ridiculous.

For heaven's sake, people, lighten up. The world will not come to an end because we decided to let ONE thread poking gentle fun at us to survive.

Strictly speaking, continuing a thread that's been closed is called "Posting past lock" and is verboten... so a wink and a nudge and a 'please don't do that again', ok?

And let's not think the existence of the one thread is open season for chatting in Moderation, K? It would be, shall we say, a TREMENDOUSLY BAD IDEA(tm) to lead a movement to spam this forum.

Fair enough, put you'll note that I was asking for an explanation of the logic at work here, rather than actually making a complaint like the locked thread: a large enough difference that I think it would be unfair to consider this a case of lock evasion.

Grampus, it's not an official warning, it's just letting you know that continuing to ask about the same topic once it's been closed is generally not a good idea. That's all.
