This is in very poor taste, he should be warned about making stupid comments at the very least. His post is http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9247657&postcount=111 ........ the thread was meant as a serious discussion..... http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=9247676&posted=1#post9247676

Um...no.

If you post a topic that ridiculous involving one of those two words (porn or rape) you have to expect it to draw a certain type of person.

Besides the fact that you're asking if people consider pornography (which is willing...and they get paid for it...and people across the globe watch it) to be the same as rape (perhaps the most heinous act possible to commit against a person), a topic that in itself is stupid, you're essentially starting a conversation about both porn and rape.

Ocean Drive seemed to be kidding, quoting an equally stupid post. Not only that, he refrained from using the word "butt," and also put a smilie at the end, showing how he was, in fact, trying to be funny.

You, on the other hand, ask him if he deserves to be living? Since when are you the one to pass judgement on another's quality of life and their right to live? For what reason are you even smacking him down with such a loaded line? I thought it was your "professor" who thought this way, not yourself. Obviously you feel far more strongly about this topic than you seem to put on, and take it upon yourself to lash out at some one who made a joke, a joke that really was not as distastful as it could have been, and as many are around the forums.

OceanDrive2 didn't flame anyone, buddy...you did.

<--- Not a mod.

To see things from both sides of the story? I thought that was actually the sign of an intelligent debater.

It had no connection. One person made a joke about being butt raped. The other asked if he should have the right to live. For what? Joking? Butt raping? There was never an explanation of the comment. It was not playing the devil's advocate, it was "underpants" lashing out.

Merely because what he said was in extremely poor taste. Suggesting that it would be good for someone to be raped is, in my, and a hell of a lot of other peoples opinions, VERY poor taste - I said what I said because of two things 1) I was emotional, and 2) I was trying to point out to him that his comment about my lecturer "should be raped" was about as bad as me saying "should you really be alive".....do you see that?

If someone rich steals a loaf of bread of a poor, starving child and someone sees this, and steals the loaf back off the rich guy, giving it back to the child.....is this wrong?

This analogy has absolutely nothing to do with what you and OceanDrive2 said to each other, if you're trying to claim that you were 'giving the bread back to the poor'. The fact of the matter is you said this:
"That's no way near funny. If you truly believe that, then do you really deserve to be living?"
in which you are questioning his very right to be alive.

If you were trying to point out that the statement you said was just an example of how rude OceanDrive2 was being at the time, than you should have said something to that matter in your post. People can't read minds here. They see what you type, and only that.

1) I was emotional

Perhaps you should read the good advice sticky at the top of the forums. Emotions, in no way justify specific things that you may type. If anything, you should walk away from it, calm down, and respond respectively, rather than responding in the same manner that he did to your original post.

But perhaps the 'debate' over this matter should be stopped for now, until a moderator can look into this and making a ruling.
