(This is related to the post http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=431115)
Mods only please, as I'm asking for a ruling.
I've come accross a article that I think may spark some interesring debate (the subject has to do with the origins of Al Qaida). However, it resides on a site that is a forbidden link (rotten(dot)com). I understand and accept that it is forbidden to post links to this site. The article is long.
Would this be an acceptable means of posting it:
Exerpted Article
This article resides on, rotten(dot)com, a site which it is forbidden to post links to. If you wish to read the article fully, you may telegram me for the url or serch for the following on on that site: (article title).
Please understand that I have no wish to counter the TOS here. I'm just looking for a way to suggest an interesting debate topic. If there's just no way to do it within the rules, I'll accept that. Thank you.

I know I'm not a mod, but couldn't you simply copy and paste the article like this?
Blah blah blah naked grandma blah blah
Ah...I see that's what you asked. If you post it like that, there should be no problem. The rules, as they are written, are against posting links...

I can't promise that we'll allow it unseen, but assuming it doesn't break any other rules, we'll allow your link evasion technique.
If this becomes abused, we reserve the right to reverse this precedent at any time.

If you like, I can TG the link to you so you can check it.

Sorry, that's another presedent we don't want to set. We're not nannies. The rules are published. You can figure out if it's permissible or not.

Okay... uhm, dumb question for the mods.
Daistallia 2104 has, in the topic he posted, a link back to this one. This one tells textually (non-URL like) the location of the article... is this completely crickett?
Uhm... I just realized this was supposed to be mod only... please just forgive me, as I was curious of what the ruling was.

No worries.
So far I haven't actually posted a link to that URL. And it was only after Frisbeeteria's ruling above that it would be allowed, that I posted it.
And if you look at my OP above, you'll realise I've been quite cautious in regards to linking the URL in question. :)

Serveral times in this topic though you say the URL of the site, just with a '(dot)' replacing the '.'
To me, this seems to be using moderation as a place to safely post a link, and then linking to moderation...
like I said, I just wanted to hear a mod's oppinion on it.

The location of the questionable website has been given, yes (bloody difficult to discuss its legality if you can't say what it is), however, it hasn't been linked.

Thank you for that clearer explanation.

So let me see if I understand this... it is technically okay to post the URL of any site I want, whether it be on the bad list or not, as long as I make sure the URL doesn't auto parse to a link, instead one that must be cut and pasted? That doesn't make much sence! >_<

That's not what I said at all.
A question was asked about Rotten. Since it is impossible to ask about the site without mentioning it, it was deemed acceptable. The reference to this thread wasn't an attempt to do an end-run around referencing bad sites.
And there's a difference between "nationstates(dot)net" and "http://www.nationstates.net"; auto-parsed links or not.
Furthermore, the content being posted was perfectly acceptable, it was the rest of the site that wasn't. We're going to be a bit more leaniant when dealing with acceptable text from an unacceptable site.

Ah, good... I was just 1) checking and 2) prevening others from trying that in future.
It is also possible to have posted the article on your own site and link it that way? Or would the credit that appears in as a foot note be a bit iffy?
