MY nation was deleted... why? [Me too split]

Hi there.

I was deleted at 1300hrs-ish GMT today. My nation name was 'Army Rumour Service HQ'.

I had a region comprising 70-odd different nations, all of them being different people in from Iraq, UK and so on.

Why was I deleted? We hadn't even looked elsewhere, let alone flamed anyone.

I use my home PC (behind a firewall) and my work PC (a Govt PC - it's ok - we all come on here!), so have I been accused (falsely) of creating more than one nation?

Could I assure the GMs that I am not cheating, will not cheat, and frankly my daily job has enough cheating and pure evil in it to satify me, without having to invent more here.

Many thanks - good site - we're all using it at work.

...and I forgot this bit..

...when I then created this nation (ARRSE HQ) and logged back in after going to the gym, it said this nation didn't exist.

Aha!!! said I, pausing only to curse all of you for several hours. I then made a(another) new nation called 'Doctrinus'. I then buggered off to call my Mum (bless her) and when I logged back in, just thought I'd try 'ARRSE HQ' again - just in case.

Surprise surprise - it was back!! So now I have 2 nations - so if you can, please delete 'Doctrinus' (so I can't be accused of cheating) - but only if you can arrange to NOT delete my current nation.

Many thanks

Joe

...and one more thing...my last (promise):

It's just common decency to let the individual know why you've done, or give a warning.

I am a Moderator on another board, which I won't reveal here as it is work-related, but it doesn't matter how ghastly the perp is being, we always let them know why such a course of action is being taken.

And that's quite enough from me...good night! :)

For the record, it is legal to have multiple nations, provided that only one of them is in the UN at a time.

Cheers Goober - at least someone reads this stuff.

My nation was in the UN - and had only joined the UN that morning. Pretty sad moderation policy I'd say.

Pretty sad moderation policy I'd say.
Having none of the facts of this case due to being at work all day (like most of my moddish coworkers), I can't tell you what happened. I can tell you that being deleted and later restored without any sort of notification is against moderation policy. At the very least, we'll tag your record with notes about what was done and why.

It's also highly unlikely that a nation deleted for cause would be restored at all. There would generally be a review session among several of the mods concerning the case. As near as I can tell (and I do log all daily session even though I can't read them until I get home), no such discussion took place today.

Given these facts, and given the description above, I'd say it's most likely that a) the server hiccoughed, or b) you misspelled your nation name. Neither of which constitute "sad moderation policy" I'd say.

NationStates is down, so I'm working from memory.

That said, I believe that I am the Moderator who handled this case. As I recall, 'Army Rumour Service HQ' was caught sending a telegram to another player along the lines of "I hope you die in a horrible accident."

Abusive telegrams, like most (but not all) other offenses get a warning for the first infraction and a deletion for any second infraction of any kind. However, the telegram in question, being considered a death threat, violated the "threatening" clause and was considered an extremely serious offense. Thus, I deleted you without warning.

Ah, the joys of logs. The telegram in question was:

Wretched woman,
Please die in a horrific accident.
Thanks for coming.
Me

I remember the case. Myself and another Game Mod (and a Forum Mod, for what it's worth) all agreed with the decision.

Edit: And bitching that we're a bunch of slackers after not getting a responce within 15 minutes is... well... try to realise that we have lives and that you aren't the only player on this game.

Ahem...yes...forgot about that....

What a super bunch of chaps you all are....ahem.

I'm off for a long chat with myself in a mirror. Your actions were exactly what I've have done as well.

And although it's no excuse, the individual in question would make virtually any human respond the same way - trolls are trolls wherever you go on the net.

Many thanks team - I'll wind my neck in.

Cheers.
