Whilst option 1 is obviously wrong and goes against the rules and ways of the mods, I think it has a certain poetic justice.

I'm sorry? So what, spam threads are now moved to II? If its spam, lock it, II doesn't want it any more than UN does.

Interesting poll. I knew some groups were prevented from gloating while others are not but I was not aware that threads were intentionally opened for flaming if the right people agreed. I am beginning to wonder about NationStates Forums.

They aren't. Develop a sense of humour.

What baffles me isn't that new players make these kinds of posts, but that older players who supposedly know better continually rise to the bait.

"The official response of Tonissia: silly n00b, NS is for older kids."

Would it really have hurt you to roll your eyes and simply flit off to moderation to ask for a lock or move instead of posting that? Are "NS" and "n00b" really the official wording your nation's leadership use to condemn others? Can you imagine your communications secretary issuing that press statement? "STFU N00B LOL"?

It doesn't hurt you at all to ignore such posts, and if anyone in II bothered to try to offer advice to new players instead of posting that kind of crap, II might not have the reputation that it does. That is, being the General of the RP forums.

Hey now, you don't have to go there. Plenty of us try very hard to offer services and advice, myself included.

I second AMF's reaction to Raem's comment. If people from the NS forum didn't keep slagging on I.I., perhaps NS wouldn't have its reputation for being an elitist playground for the snobbiest RPers. It works both ways.

I'd like to point out that as a general rule, I don't RP in NS.

That said, I took a second look at that thread, and I saw ONE PERSON linking that poster to the stickies, or RP suggestion threads or anything (Goober). I saw two pages of people mocking him and at least two suggestions that people like him are why NS needs an IQ test at registration. NS is elitist? I've never seen anyone in NS suggest that a poster couldn't pass an IQ test to create a nation.

(OOC - Yet another Noob to pollute our glorious forums... There should be a noob test or somthing

Question 1 - Are you awsome (please tick the most appropriate)

A = Im ok, suppose
B = Well, I am quite Cool
C = Not really, I suck at everything
D = y34h, !m t3h b!g R0x0r5!!!1111Ctrl+alt+1

Ticking D would result in a sudden and sharp electric shock)

OOC: Even better: have an IQ test as a mandatory part of registration. You have a certain IQ or above, you're allowed to create a nation. You don't meet the IQ level...you don't get a country. That ought to keep most n00bish-types out, methinks. <<shrug>>

This really isn't the place to debate on whether Nationstates is smarter than International Incidents or not. I suggest that the argument cease, since Katganistan responded to the point of the thread by moving it to International Incidents.

The actions of a few out of line posters do not reflect the I.I. community as a whole. There are plenty of helpful posters in I.I. who help people on a daily basis, and just because a few trolling posters mock a new/n00b/whatever doesn't mean that the whole community does. I personally have put many long hours into writing help threads, linking people to said threads, and the like.

Many other posters do this as well, but there seems to be an alarmist response to every thread like this that pops up. It's immediately: "I.I. is a breeding ground for flamers, trolls, and n00bs." Quite untrue.

When I'm busy and can't be bothered to post, I generally ignore threads like the forementioned. Don't blame the larger community because a few other players (who probably should be warned for flame/troll baiting) aren't mature enough to do the same.

For reference, I don't think linking the poster to the stickies is going to do much good, given that (s)he posted in one of the stickies (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9166199&postcount=45) already. And the post isn't on-topic or anything.

Take a look, you'll realise its the same people posting in these threads every time.

I second Automagfreeks sentiment. Don't blame all of II because some can't avoid posting snide remarks in threads like this, just as I don't think all NSers are elitist just because some are.

That said, I don't see why the thread was moved to II, when it was clearly spam anyway. Is the new mod tactic moving spam into II? Last I heard it was still being locked/deleted.

Not that there's much difference... Katganistan...Karmabaijan...both mods, both begin with a "K", both have about 10 letters... how different could they be? :rolleyes:

I'm glad to see the poll ... it is interesting to see how different reactions might have been.

Too bad the poll didn't have your option, because I think that was the better place for the "my nation attacks the world" post.
