Seems like some people are having some basic reading difficulties:

Now the mods have requested not posting here, so if everyone could please stop, thank you.

Seems to be falling on deaf ears.

I agree with C.E. there. It's General forum. Why is there an unlocked thread there that an author doesn't want people posting in?

...

Postwhoring and a bunch of people bragging about spamming NS - split and deleted. Sanctaphrax: post your update. Everybody else: don't.

You know, a word to the wise, telling the mods what they can and can't do whilst simultaneously ignoring their explicit written instructions may be a tad... ill-considered, no?

I'm just saying what makes most sense.

Until a real explanation is handed out. I see no harm posting there.

EDIT: What, am I gonna be forumbanned for a week because of a lack of a proper explanation on the mod's part?

Why? Because the comments that the thread attracts are nothing but spam. Need I point you towards the rules against spam?

Basically your entire argument here is "I am going to continue breaking the general rules of the forum here and contravene a direct stipulation from a Moderator until they take such action as to make it impossible to do so". Fair summary of your position?

Define "spam"

"Spam/SPAM: Off-topic, irrelevant and multi-posts that clog the server. This includes posting lots of smilies which is known as Smilie Spam. Also akin to spamming is Post-whoring which is when a player posts anything just to increase the postcount. Spamming to the point where you get deleted is known as Klamathing. Spamming in the forums should be reported through the Moderation forum, and In-game, through the Getting Help Page."

don't mean to invade Santc's sanctions on this thread. But I wanna tell C.E. there.

It's gonna be an honour to kick his ass. Post-whoring wise.

"Post-Whoring: Any post specifically designed to feature or increase your post count is considered post-whoring, and is illegal on NationStates. If you want to increase your postcount legally, you may do so in Jolt's spam forum. Don't be surprised if your "I made 1000 posts!" thread is moved to Spam."

Let's see... a Forum Mod and a Game Mod both say not to post in the thread. So tell me, why exactly did you think posting was appropriate?

Wait Fris, let me understand this. Each time I want to update this, I make a request in Moderation, you unlock the thread, I post the update, you then lock the thread again?

Fris can just go lock-happy on the thread if he doesn't want people posting there.
Thread authors (and mods) may post common-sense and politeness requests regarding the desired direction for a thread. While an author's direction does not carry the weight of a moderation decision, common politeness indicates that you should at least make an attempt to follow those wishes.

Some people have the impression that "Anything and Everything" means "I can do whatever the hell I want, anywhere I want."

Wrong.

Max expects civil debate. The interpretation of civility is left up mods, but it seems pretty clear that respecting an author's request not to spam or post-whore (both of which are ALREADY against the rules) should be honored. And as Hack said, this point was reinforced by TWO mods. Seems pretty damn clear to me.

Spam and post-whoring once again removed and deleted. Original thread locked with instructions. Colodia, this is was a polite warning. Next time, it will be Official. And while we're mentioning it, could you please take some of the verbiage out of your profile "location"? Every one of your posts is twice as big as everyone else because you decided to post an essay rather than a location. It's annoying as hell, and I wish you'd remove it.

Given that your last update was in March, I figured you had abandoned the thread. Open, closed, I don't care, but I'm tired of clearing post-whore battles.

Perhaps having a separate thread to post bragging about post counts (which strikes me as being a rather silly thing to brag about) whilst Sanctaphrax posts the updates in the main Top 100 list would be a good idea. HOWEVER, if the thread originator and two moderators both ask you not to post the kind of drivel that was in that thread, you probably should take heed of their advice. Posting further complaints about those requests and now directives will get you nowhere fast.

This isn't democracy. This is the 'Net according to Max.

Wow. I think that's the 7th time at least it's been lockified. Apparently people seem to think the title means "Post-whoring is admirable and the more posts you have, the better a person you are."

I have never used the Wiki, and have no idea how to do so. And I've never used a website host before, so again, would have no idea how to do so. :p

Sorry about that. Hope you can forgive an old NS veteran.

That's a big part of why I'm ambivalent about doing ANYTHING to protect this thread. Essentially, it's nothing but a celebration of post-whoring, which some particularly spammy posters seem to think is a good thing. The idea that postcount confers "royalty" or "legitimacy" strikes me as absurd. Frankly, I'd prefer it if Sanctphrax just posted a final statement referring people to the Jolt memberlist and let it die.

But that's just MY opinion, not an official statement of NS moderation.

If you wanted to put it on the wiki, I wouldn't have a problem with that. I'd suggest [[List of top 100 posters (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/List_of_top_100_posters)]].

I think people are more mature than to vandalize it. And if they do, then I think there's a way to change back the page to the way it was before it was vandalized.

Wiki is a shared encyclopedia where everyone contributes.

That there is. And repeated vandalism leads to a page I like to call [[Special:Blockip]].
