I'm not a mod, but I'm guessing it's because it is a registered trademark of UPS:

http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/trademark.html

FedEx also has several registered trademarks:

https://www.fedex.com/legal/copyright/ca.html

But then again, I've never heard of this happening.

Boo hoo. Quit whining, it's probably just a glitch. The mods'll fix it soon. TG one if they somehow miss this.

That can't be it. There are squillions of nations who have trademarks in their names. Unless there aren't, and I'm wrong.

I'm not whining. I'm asking why it was deleted. Same thing as if this was a tg, just not in tg form. :)

And... if this was a copyright infringement, this nation would be deleted as well. And besides, UPS Mail has lasted for a good year already.

Perhaps, leave the speculation at the door? Since a moderator is the only one who can answer this inquiry, best leave it to a moderator...

Indeed. I'm really anxious for a response though... :p

This is bad advice, and I would appreciate you and others not suggesting telegramming mods again.

There are three approved methods of getting the mods' attention: this forum, the Getting Help page, and the IRC channel #themodcave on esper.net. The latter two are the preferred method for getting Game Mod advice, which is what is indicated in this case. I'm not a Game Mod, so I have no idea why your nation was deleted.

File a Getting Help request, and bear in mind that we are currently backlogged a few days.

Which category do I send it in? And should I supply my e-mail address?

Category is probably irrelevant in this case. Use "Other", I reckon.

GMs will most likely respond by TG to the nation making the request.

The official notation says that you were warned on June 5 for using the puppet nation 'spammer_jack' to spamattack 'hyrule'. You were deleted for flaming the nation 'stars_of_sky' in a regional board post in the region 'the_north_pacific' using the puppet 'stars_the_spy'.

I did what?!?On June 5, you (or someone on your computer) created a nation called "Spammer Jack". This nation then went to the region "Hyrule" and posted several extremely long messages each consisting of hundreds of repetitions of the word "SPAM". Because it was a freshly-created puppet and logged in from the same computer as you, the investigating Moderator deleted the puppet nation and held you responsible for this and made a notation on your record accordingly; I concur with the judgment.

More recently, you (or someone on your computer) created a nation called "Stars the Spy". This nation then went to the region "The North Pacific" and flamed another nation called "Stars of Sky". Again, this was a freshly-created puppet and traced to your computer. Thus, you were held responsible for this offense, as well. Because this was your second offense, you were deleted. Again, I concur with the judgment.

You were supposed to receive a telegram from NationStates Moderators on June 5 informing you that we caught you breaking the rules. I've checked the logs and it turns out that the investigating Moderator did not send that notification. Nevertheless, the decision stands as you did use two puppet nations to break the rules.

If these nations were created by someone else on your computer, then we're sorry, but we cannot tell the difference between you and the rulebreaker. You need to be more careful about which computer you play NationStates from and who you allow to use your computer.

Hmmm...puppet nations, eh? DESTROY THEM!

Sorry about that.

I would think that just deleting the puppet nation would have been enough. Then, the mods could have sent a TG to FedEx Mail just to inform him that they did indeed know that someone on his computer was insidiously misusing a puppet nation. Then, FedEx Mail could either modify his behavior or not let his baby sister on his computer. Deleting his normal nation is overkill in my opinion. He's learned his lesson once he's seen the omniscient power of the Game Mods, hasn't he?

 Hmm... There's nothing I can do about it, eh? I can't prove that it wasn't me?

If I was the spam-maker person, then why weren't all my nations deleted? I have three nations besides FedEx Mail and UPS Mail.

You really shouldn't flame other players via puppets. It's generally considered poor form.

We still have to hold you responsible for the rulebreaking. However, if the rulebreaker is really a separate person, then you have a chance at avoiding future trouble: just don't allow anyone to log onto NationStates from your computer and don't log onto NationStates from any computer besides your own.

This could tend to be a big problem. I know of at least three people who play NS here at my work. We use a proxy server on the netowrk and everyone who hit the internet has the same IP address, thus looking like it came from the same computer. Would that mean that all of us could be deleted if one chose to be a butthead?

IP Address
Login Pattern Detection
and two other secret ones. I doubt that you would all be deleted.

If you have more than one UN nation, just resign the extras. Puppets are not against the rules, unless they break other rules of the game. If the rules are severe enough, as was the case above, then the recognized main nation would also be deleted -- I believe the nation currently in the UN is considered the main nation, but I may be wrong there. I thought that it was clearly stated in the rules the reasons for why any nation might be deleted.

Also, how about the Terms of Service. It says that everything here is © 2002 and 2003, I think. How about some of the new material? There must be something that was written after 2003, right?
