When it comes to debates, those threads aren't limited to 1300 posts, just as long as a relevant debate continues. With this thread though, the debate has died down a bit, and it has gotten a bit heated on the last page, granted debates usually do that. The difference is whether someone decides to stay civil and reply with facts and civil opinions, or light the fire.
The debate is still continuing; however, so I believe that it should probably stay open, though that's where a moderator's decision comes. :)
