I was only trying to share a fun game with other NS'ers. Damn. I guess that's an infraction. Bye.

Last time DC was deleted, he was warned that if he broke the rules again, he would be permabanned. DC just broke a minor rule (advertising another site on NS), so he's worried about a possible ban.

Well, am I banned for life or what? I hope not, but taking into account the warning I was telegramed, and the deletion of one of my threads my Melkor, I'm under the impression that banning is imminent. Am I banned, or am I still permitted to post?

If it's not too much trouble, could one of those nice people called Moderators please explain what is happening?

Thanks ever so much.

That's a shame. Especially considering that there is another thread in general right now with a link to an offsite game.

It's not like you were flame baiting or trolling.

You're right, he has changed his ways recently, and has become quite responsible

Looks like this matter is shelved for now.

DCD, you might as well continue as normal until a verdict is reached.

This matter is under review.

Until a final decision is reached, Drunk Commies may continue to post to the forums as usual, provided that he does not otherwise break the rules.

Especially if they are trying to change.Good.

I always wondered why they had that rule about advertising other sites anyway... but then that isn't really my business, now is it?

Good.

Just a guess, but advertising other games means less people play NationStates.

Also, there is questions about what games are appropriate.

/me snickers

Aside of the blatant grammatical error, that does make sense. Of course, with 1 million people playing, losing a few can't be that big of a deal, NS is one of the most massive massively multiplayer online games, but yeah, I get the idea.

I always wondered why they had that rule about advertising other sites anyway... but then that isn't really my business, now is it?It's primarily a spam problem. There are many MMOGs out there, and if we allowed all of them to advertise in NationStates in the form of posts and topics, it would very quickly flood the forums. If you need to find other MMOGs, then I think the Google Directory can help you.

However, Drunk Commies didn't link to an MMOG. This is still under review.

We're all volunteers, so discussions do get kinda slow because we're not all online at the same time. Additionally, I need Melkor's attention, specifically, since this was originally his action.

Okay, this has been reviewed. Apparently, there was some confusion as to what links are allowed.

You may not advertise other MMOGs or sites that use referral links. Outwar and the zombie thing fall under this category.

You may not post links to ordinary flash games that violate the clauses of NationStates: "malicious", "defamatory", "obscene", et cetera.

This incident, however, did not fall under either of those categories. Posting links to flash games is allowed so long as it does not happen frequently enough to be considered a "fad". If it happens enough to be considered a fad (like "Ask a..." threads), then we will take action against it like any other fad.

The thread involved has been undeleted and may continue as normal. No rule infraction was committed by "Drunk commies deleted".
