I think someone needs to calm down a bit...

"Either way, tough-o. I don't need to be whined at, lectured to, or otherwise informed of your special needs as a sensitive individual. Just do like the rest of us and suck it up. And just in case, I won't provide you any offensive links. In fact, the one thing I'll remember from this thread is to make a point of not providing you with links of any sort in future."

I think this was slightly unwarranted, if he didn't want to, nobody made him read it. I realise its probably not harsh enough for a warning or anything, but could the mods please ask him to keep out and cool it?

I think Occidio could calm down a bit as well. I don't appreciate patronisation.

Wow, so much flaming going around, I think locking the thread would be best. Sorry for the trouble mods, but if you could lock it and dish out whatever punishments you see fit.

Well, in this case, by saying what you do and don't accept did leave the door open to massive criticism due to the varying nature of people's judgement. You've effectively stuck your fingers in your ears and have refused to accept any materials bcause you assumed a bias.

I'll say it again:

"Tough-o".

I think Sanctaphrax has an entirely unreasonable sense of entitlement, so much so that he/she wants special considerations where the forums are concerned.

I think that's rubbish. I'm not afraid to say so, and I resent the fact that Sanctaphrax is using the threat of Mod action to stifle my stated opinion.

methinks this is wasting the mods time.. but I'm not a mod, so I guess they will tell us if it is. From where I'm sitting it sure looks like a waste of time. If anyone should get a warning methinks it should be Sanctaphrax for posting stupid threads or bothering the mods. Just my opinion of course.

i agree with Dobbs.

as for sancraphax calling me patronizing- here is the dictionary entry-

PATRONIZE
Pronunciation: 'pA-tr&-"nIz, 'pa-
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): -ized; -iz·ing
1 : to act as patron of : provide aid or support for
2 : to adopt an air of condescension toward : treat haughtily or coolly
3 : to be a frequent or regular customer or client of

I think i fit definition number 3, since I am a regular on Nation States.
thank you very much

Since Sanct thought in necessary to accuse a number of us of flaming:

but didn't bother posting anything but Dobbs' quote, I'll post the one I believe he is referring to that I wrote:

Mods, can you check out the whole topic?

http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=425991

There are a few posts on each page I find questionable. And they are on both sides of the arguement.

Can you be a little more specific?

Be specific and manage stay out of this little war you guys have going on? Not in the least.

I think using a term like 'war' in this context is frankly more than a little sensationalist. I've been in flamewars before...this is practically cordial by comparison.

I'm assuming either the Mods have looked in and are making up their minds up as to what action to take, have looked in and decided not to bother, or have yet to look into it.

No matter how you slice it, that thread is slowly getting larger - asking the Mods to read through it all strikes me as being unfair to the Mods. That's why I wondered if you could be more specific - not to draw you in to some perceived 'war'.

you are supposed to name posts, one by one , for easy mod reference. and you strolled into this thread and made some generalized comment, yet you want to stay out of it.
and if you want to see war, this is the last supper compared to what happened last time when someone said i flamed. get educated.

Main Entry: 1war
Pronunciation: 'wor
Function: noun
Usage: often attributive
Etymology: Middle English werre, from Old North French, of Germanic origin; akin to Old High German werra strife; akin to Old High German werran to confuse
1 a (1) : a state of usually open and declared armed hostile conflict between states or nations (2) : a period of such armed conflict (3) : STATE OF WAR b : the art or science of warfare c (1) obsolete : weapons and equipment for war (2) archaic : soldiers armed and equipped for war
2 a : a state of hostility, conflict, or antagonism b : a struggle or competition between opposing forces or for a particular end <a class war> <a war against disease> c : VARIANCE, ODDS 3
- war·less /-l&s/ adjective

Okay, now for the second point.

Is it somewhat unfair to the mods? Yes, I'll admit that. At the same time, I'm going with my gut on this one, and going with a path that should keep me out of it. Not all of my motives or reasonings are revealed.

I've done what I've been on this topic to do. It's up to the mods to decide what course they will take.

Edit: Leave it to Occidio to take the predicted path and provide an example as to why.

Okay, now for the second point.

Okay. Your first point, then was that the Mods should read the entire thread because there are "a few posts on each page I find questionable. And they are on both sides of the arguement", correct? Okay. On to your second point, then.

Is it somewhat unfair to the mods? Yes, I'll admit that. At the same time, I'm going with my gut on this one, and going with a path that should keep me out of it. Not all of my motives or reasonings are revealed.

Oh, not only will I agree with you, but I'd go so far as to say that you've been most successful keeping your motives or reasonings quite well hidden. But to the matter of your second point, you are then stating in this second point of yours that your first point, wherein you request the Mods to read through the entire original thread, is actually unfair to the Mods. I won't even try discussing your internal organs, as they're definitely something I'd like to continue keeping myself out of. Just so we're clear.

I've done what I've been on this topic to do. It's up to the mods to decide what course they will take.

Edit: Leave it to Occidio to take the predicted path and provide an example as to why.

Third read-through and I finally got it. It is indeed up to them, as you say.

Gods help us all.

Oh, and - what's with the swipe at Multus, anyway? What is it with people today? Sunspots or something?

And yes Occidio, I did alert the mods, because surprise! this forum does have rules, whether or not you're aware of it, and not flamebaiting is one of them. Everything you, Dobbs, Sdaeriji and Sinuhue have done seems to be trying to provoke a response, so you got one. Me going to the mods is my response.Me rejecting your argument is my response. We call this sort of thread "trollbaiting".

To everyone in this thread: continuing the conversation here and linking to it there, and vice versa, is extremely annoying. I always read trolling and flaming complaints in-context, and the reporter has an equal chance as the reportee of being warned, punished, or what-have-you. It all depends on the context, not who got here first.

If you want to be helpful, post the master thread link and cite specific posts by number (i.e. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=425991, posts 121, 123, 131).
methinks this is wasting the mods timeMethinks this sums it up pretty well. You guys can cordially hate each other all you want, but leave the mods out of it until actual rules are broken. In the meantime, here's a handy link for the lot of you:
