Thread Lock Request

This thread I created I want locked (or even better: Deleted!).

Also, I recommand that moderators investigate Crimson Sith for flamming (He edited out the "What the **** are you thinking!" line in his first post, but he still appears to have flammed past then, or at least flamebaited).

Just trying to stop an even bigger flamewar from happening, as he seems to be taking the arguement personally.

General threads are not controlled by the topic starter, TGSR. We don't lock or delete by request except in the RP forums.

Crimson Sith was indeed taking the attack to a personal level, but it didn't strike me as more than a "Knock it off" sort of flaming. I'm not going to revive the thread for that. Since you removed all your posts and made it impossible to follow, it seems to have died anyway. Not even worth a lock.

And he's following up on it, too: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9045973&postcount=6

As for the first part, the reason I suggested a lock is because the thread was going to turn into a flame war if I didn't delete my posts. Not because I felt like it.

Anyway: Thank you, Frisbeeteria!

Yes, of course, because challenging your political beliefs in a rational manner is flaming. Please. This is a political party thread. And so far, yours is the only party which considers reasonable attacks on your "ideology" to be flaming. Maybe you should report Whittier for the drivel he posted as well. Oh, wait, but that would make you objective. Nevermind.

Looks like I shouldn't have let you slide, Crimson Sith. Shouldn't have pushed that one last time.

For coming to a moderation thread with no other purpose than to continue a trend of personal attacks against a player, you get an Official Warning.

You mean I don't have the right to speak in my own defense?

There's a difference between speaking in your own defence, and continuing the debate in the Moderation forum. As it stands, there was no need for you to even offer defence in this. As Fris stated in his first post, he wasn't intending on warning you.

You should have quit while you were ahead. Advise you should keep in mind before responding to what I've just said...

I responded to this thread to A) site why I feel that accusing me of flaming is uncalled for and B) site the hypocracy of accusing myself, but not Whittier, of the former. I did not "continue a trend of personal attacks", I simply defended my position. The fact that you did not initialy take action against me does not in any way diminish my right to defend myself against what I view to be a personal attack against me. If someone accuses me of a wrong doing, I should think that I have every right to present a counter-argument. In exrcising this right, I have earned myself a permanent blemish on my record, and the apparent contempt of the moderators of this forum. Is this truly called for?

I would like to think that I am a reasonably intelligent, rational, and open minded person, and I would like to be treated as such. I am, I must admit, slightly taken aback by the contempt I have been treated with from the very offset of our correspondence. Is it standard practice to intimidate players into a state of silence? In what manner have I earned this contemptuous treatment?

I am well aware of the fact that, at a whim, you can ban me from this forum, that your authority here is unquestionable. I respect your authority, as well as your rulings, and really have no intention of challenging your position. I will not, however, be bullied into silence. By treating me as a second class member of this forum you have made me feel irrelevant, humiliated, simply put, small. I would ask you to consider my position in this situation, and ask yourselves how you would react if you were treated in a similar fashion. If you felt that an injustice had been done to you, would you be able to remain silent? Would you hang your head and walk away from the situation in hopeless frustration?

I hold firm to the belief that you are reasonable and well-intentioned people, and to the hope that you will perhaps see the predicament in which you have placed me. I do seek a resolution to this issue, but I feel that I have been wronged, and will not be gaged. I await your input.

I responded to this thread to A) site why I feel that accusing me of flaming is uncalled for and B) site the hypocracy of accusing myself, but not Whittier, of the former. And as I stated, this was not necessary. No action was being taken, no action was needed. This simply could have been allowed to die. Instead, you continue to insist in dragging this out, aparently due to some inflated view of personal honor.

The complaint was rejected. Therefore your protestations were completely unnecessary and unwanted. There is nothing to "defend" yourself against, as the complaint was deemed invalid. Had it been decided that a warning was needed, then it would be appropriate for you to defend yourself.

The fact that you did not initialy take action against me does not in any way diminish my right to defend myself against what I view to be a personal attack against me. If someone accuses me of a wrong doing, I should think that I have every right to present a counter-argument.Why? There is no need for a counter arguement.

In exrcising this right, I have earned myself a permanent blemish on my record, and the apparent contempt of the moderators of this forum. Is this truly called for?Don't overestimate your importance. You most certainly have not earned our contempt; that is reserved for chronic problems that truly earn it.

Again, had you simply let this drop, it's likely nobody would even recall this whole affair. Instead, I'm sitting here responding to... your complaint of a complaint.

Is it standard practice to intimidate players into a state of silence? In what manner have I earned this contemptuous treatment? You appear to have a loose definition of "intimidate". I advised you to quit while you were ahead.

Advise you seem to have chosen to ignore.

I respect your authority, as well as your rulings, and really have no intention of challenging your position. Then what would you call this?

I will not, however, be bullied into silence. If I was "bulling" you, I would have deleted your account, or at the very least, signed my post with my title, as opposed to my signature.

By treating me as a second class member of this forum you have made me feel irrelevant, humiliated, simply put, small.I have treated you exactly how any other member here is treated, not as a "second class member". Your personal dislike of the ruling does not in anyway invalidate it, nor does it invalidate the method in which it was handed down.

I would ask you to consider my position in this situation, and ask yourselves how you would react if you were treated in a similar fashion.I would see a ruling in my favor and move on. I'm not one to get worked up over what people on a forum think about me. I certainly wouldn't continue the arguement in the Moderation forum.

I mean, seriously, how is this: Maybe you should report Whittier for the drivel he posted as well. Oh, wait, but that would make you objective. Nevermind. defending yourself? That's a personal dig and you know it.

If you felt that an injustice had been done to you, would you be able to remain silent? Would you hang your head and walk away from the situation in hopeless frustration?I'd have more important things to worry about, frankly.

hope that you will perhaps see the predicament in which you have placed me.You placed yourself in this situation.

I was sitting here contemplating my response, when I thought of this:

Again, had you simply let this drop, it's likely nobody would even recall this whole affair. Instead, I'm sitting here responding to... your complaint of a complaint.

Which kind of made me think of the fact that, well, I'm wasting your time. And I suppose it is a mercy that you bothered to respond to my post at all. And I suppose its pretty damn unfair of me to demand you focus your time and energy on something of relativly little to no importance to you. Inspite of my "inflated sense of personal honor", I can see that dragging this on, and insisting that you participate, is rather selfish of me. Its a damn shame that I have a big red "warn" on my record now, over something like this. But then again, there's nothing I can do about, is there? Yaaah, I'll be going now.
