I request that the following post be looked into for flame:

And, in handing out its reinforcement of the status quo, the resolution gives an overly egotistical essay and a set of rules that amount to meaningless gibberish to hide the fact it is doing nothing. Top it all off, the resolution itself tries, in wording, to make some nations feel bad about how they govern their citizens and others feel superior, which can be interpretted to be a form of trolling. Considering this resolution is nothing but opinions, it is really one of the lowest things a person can do just to make themselves feel superior.

My Case: (DLE's post is after DLE was warned to "back off" in post #57 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8962685&postcount=57))Yes, the majority of this post seems to be attacking the resolution, which is somewhat legitimate according to forum rules as I know them to be. However, in the last line, DLE connects everything he has said before about the resolution to me: "it is really one of the lowest things a person can do just to make themselves feel superior". "It" refers to the "egotistical", "trolling", and "making nations feel bad about how they govern their citizens" modifiers before, and "a person" can only be the resolution author.

My contention is that if I say "Mynation is such a crappy nation. Geez, it's evil and stupid. How could any player stoop to having such attributes?", I'm equating the player with the nation, and, in fact, attacking the player. That's what I feel DLE's doing. If he had stopped before that last line I would not have brought this up here.

I have not responded in this thread since DLE was told to back off (post 57) (and I was told that I was taking advantage of Vastiva's hospitality). This is unprovoked.

I request that mods look into this. I respect whatever decision they make in this case. I'm just tired of him going out of his way to attack me personally.

I believe you are reaching. Yes, DLE was mean to you. She was admonished for it. It would be best if you just moved on, as you are seeing things that just aren't there in this post, IMH non-mod O.

Perhaps, it's also time for you to use the ignore function? Just a suggestion.

That's a stretch. There's a difference between not being nice and flaming.

I refuse to do that on principle. If DLE's attacking me (which calling my submission of the resolution some sort of ego trip is doing) and I haven't done anything (which I hadn't: I hadn't posted in response to him or anyone at all), I refuse to believe it is I that should change my behavior. Last time I checked, it is the stalker, not the stalked who is given the restraining order.

No, I'm just going to stop posting in United Nations. If the forum is only going to support the childishness and immaturity DLE is advocating (not even yet 48 hours back from the dead) I'm simply not going to participate. I'll keep writing and passing resolutions, but I sure as heck won't submit myself to the poor-excuse-for-mature-debate the UN forum has become.

If this is the "criticism" the UN forum is accepting and advocating then the forum really has no value. I haven't posted drafts to my proposals since Nuclear Terrorism Act on the UN forum because time and time again it’s proven itself ineffective at discussing and critiquing proposals. Originally, this was due to apathy, and the lack of forum interest in proposals. Now the UN has traded in apathy for belligerence and razor-toothed pettiness.

Believe me, my chosen field is rhetorical criticism. I know "criticism" when I see it. This is not it. Actual, worthwhile criticism contains a certain degree of objectivity and explanation (both flagrantly missing from DLE's repeated attacks on me), as well as re-direction toward what the critic feels is a better path for the rhetor. In other words, I can go to any whack-job and get them to flame my proposal or me--attack on proposal or proposal authors is not what the criticism or debate is for. Good criticism advances and investigates--it doesn’t attack and over-simplify. I, and other proposal authors, don't need DLE’s delinquent debate tactics and lack of overall adult-ness while trying to intelligently and professionally discuss issues and proposals. No, this is DLE diminishing the validity of the United Nations forum critique exponentially, not him demonstrating acceptable decorum.

Am I talking to myself here?

At any rate, since you've decided to no longer post in the UN forum, and since DLE's statements were ruled to not be flaming, there's not much point in leaving this open.

Locked.
